Problem with Downloads!!! This was my first time downloading and with all the help from WorldSims I still can't do it!!! This is my problem: I downloaded a hairstyle from Spiffy Sims and I saved it to my own file, C:\Documents and Settings\Hai Zhu\My Documents (that was the location in the properties) But when I tried to extract it to C:\Documents and Settings\Hai Zhu\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 (the downloads file) It wasn't avalible!!!! All I had was - Desktop - My Computer + (A: ) 3 1/2 Floppy + (C: ) HDD + (D: ) DVD/CD-RW Drive By the way, I use Easy Zip. I'm sorry about whinging and whining, but does anyone have a solution?
Okay, try this. Cut the downloaded file from the "Documents and Settings" folder. Then look on your C drive. You should find the "My Documents" folder listed there when you click on the little + sign beside the (C HDD. There will be another + sign beside "My Documents" click on that. You'll see EA Games and another + sign. That will take you to The Sims 2 folder. When you open that up, you should see a "Downloads" folder, and if you don't, then make one. Paste the downloaded file in the downloads folder.
So I don't extract it anywhere? I haven't tried it yet so I don't know if it has worked. I hope it works. Thanks for the advice!
If it was in a zip or rar file then you need to extract the file first. You are looking for something that ends in ".package". Once you have found this and extracted the file, you can then follow Kristalrose's instructions to place it in your downloads folder.
Oops, I thought she had already unzipped it, and was just looking for where to put it. You know, what's easiest for me is to click on "open" instead of "save" when I download a file. Winzip or Winrar will automatically open up. When it gives you a choice of extracting to the "unzipped" folder or choose another folder, Click "Choose Another Folder" and then locate your My Documents/EA Games/Sims2/Downloads folder in the scroll-down menu. Then extract the file. Once you go through all the searching the 1st time, that folder should be at the top of the choices next time you open a file. So you don't have to go through all that clicking on plus signs in the menu after that, it's already right there.
