Uses Sims to sketch better characters... Have to admit... Even though there are opinions about The Sims, I know personally that it's had helped me a great deal with persuing Freelance Illustration studies. To me, they seem to make more sense to me than keeping up with Marvel, D.C. or Darkhorse Comics. Once in a while, - I get stuck on trying to figure out how the human head slopes, and getting the angles done just right. Especially when producing some Anime inspired art... I simply load up the first version of the Sims and spend as much time needed to look at various heads. The Sims 2 - to me seems to add more challenges. Now you have hair and clothing that seem to flow, float and looks just like watching a Disney/Anime. I'm very interested in drawing 2-d, and enjoy how the shadows can alter a sims2 character in subtle tones. One important thing - The Sims taught me is to remember to come up with a storyline and plot between characters. I ended up borrowing Mortimor and Bella Goth as side characters for a comic book / pulp fiction idea called "Goners".... Believe me, it's a challenge to take some friend's story and twist it around to where one could breathe some life in the material. I'm tempted to at least show you version 01. --- Also included is a cheap sketch done with The Pleasants T. Gallagher
Comic Sketchillustrations of the Goths This is what I've been working on so far, to make Goners ver 02 look better.
