First Class Features Hey Everyone: I'm planning out some First Class Features for the Forums but I'd like to get some more added ideas/comments/suggestions before implementing. Credit Card, US Check, Bank Wire Transfer: $15 for 3 months $30 for 6 months $55 for a year Benefits: -Ad Free Forum Viewing -More PM Space -More Attachment Space -More Gallery Space -Custom Avatar -Special Title/Username -Special Contests? Any other ideas? Thoughts? Price too expensive? :|
I agree with Chris. I think that charging is a negative move. I honestly see no problem with advertising. So long as the ads aren't in popped windows. I use several sites that carry advertising and even click some ads when I feel interested enough because the company's product/service is something I might want or need. I would be subjected to advertising anyway if I stopped using some of my favorite sites because I would then have to buy newspapers and magazines ... in the case of newspapers the industry has now perfected the art of getting the customer to pay to get the advertising ... coupons anyone?
It's not a move towards charging, but rather an option of charging. It's not gonna be imposed on people
The prices seem a bit high to me. I don't know how many other Canadians there are here but if those are just U.S. prices that'll mean that us Canucks will have to tack-on an additional $15 - $25 for exchange rate, unless you're having it as a universal set-fee. (In which, I personally think, it's a tad steep anyway.)
Well, the breakdown goal is about $5.00 a month. I don't want to dip below $2.00 because then ad prices will probably pay higher, as well as the fact PayPal would eat majority of the money donated from payments received.
The problem as I see it is that charging would require a more perfectly accessible set of essential features. For example, in the downloads area it is not possible to search for male PJ's. (Or if it is then I haven't found a way which amounts to the same thing!) Just my humble opinion ...
Mmm...i noted that to the Steffan earlier in the build. We're working on a version 3 of the download area for both worldsims/simstuff.
Well, just to give you a kid's perspective, none of our parents will pay $5 a month for their kids to spend more time on the computer... well, you probably already thought of that, but, really, it's pretty unfair that only the adults on the forum get First Class Features...
