How do I get windows over roofs?

    Hello :D

I just built a replica of my house. In the front of my house on the second floor, there are two windows, then there's a roof that goes over the porch and sits under my two windows... however after i put the roof in and then try to add the windows it says i cant intersect objects...but the windows don't intersect the roof....i tried putting the windows in first and then the roof and it says the same thing....is there a boolprop you can use to override this problem? I hope so cause my house is turning out pretty perfect up unyil now...makes me sad....i might cry.....:depressed:

Could you screenshot the house you are making so we can visualize what you are trying to do? The description is pretty good, but to visualize what your goal would help us even greater :)

Are you talking about using dormers? Those are in the roof section of build mode.

I think I know what you mean. The window is on the wall where the porch roof touches. The only way to put the windows in walls in that position is to use "moveobjects on" cheat which allows you to put them anywhere. (But make sure to do "moveobjects off" as soon as you finish doing it, or you'll be accidently putting things where you *really* don't want them to go.)

Moveobjects is also handy when it says "cannot place on slope" (which I use for putting floodlights on a hill, for instance) or "must be over water" (for when you want to have some cattails on the shore instead of in the pond itself. or vice versa for putting bamboo in the shallow parts of the pond when it says "must be on land.")

Unfortunately, it still places it on the "level" where the window would ordinarily go. So, probably the privacy windows are the only ones which would fit on the wall above the roof. However, some of the "Lafenetre," "Belangie" and "Helios" new meshed windows are more in the upper part of the wall than the regular ones. You can find those windows on TSR by Windkeeper. (Unfortunately, they are not free. It really depends on how much you want them.) But they are much nicer than the Maxis "privacy" windows.

Thank you, it let me do it all of a sudden...I had been trying to use some boolProp codes and then all of a sudden it wouldn't let me put doors or windows anywhere...so I turned them all off, and then it let me. So I got it to work...house looks good...almost creepily good :):D
