What don't you like about The Sims 2 for all Consoles & Handhelds

The Sims 2 may or may not have been a disappointment to you guy's but to me i think its not a total disappointment but there's a few things that could have made the game more fun.
To me The Sims 2 is'nt as good as they made it out to be although there is alot of new features in the game that are excellent idea's there are also things that could no should have been included in the game like having kids, growing old and having stairs for a second floor i mean its not imposible look at that Playboy game they had stairs anyway lets look back up on the sims games for consoles 1st there was The Sims this was a new thing for the console and many people jumped at the idea of the game then there was Urbs In The City this offered much the same idea as The Sims but in stead of what is now known as classic mode you took direct controle over your sim and also helped them get promoted in like some kinda mini game at work and then came Bustin Out which went back to the old style of classic controle and lost most of the houses in free play but did offer us the chance to visit other sim houses and now there's The Sims 2 which reverts back to the old style of direct controle which while it has its good points it also has its bad points and also offers you the chance to cook your own food from over 60+ recipes i think anyway in stead of changing the idea of how you controle your sim/s they should have left it how it was cos direct controle never worked before and more than likely wont work this time.
I know that the sims games will never be as good as the P.C versions but it wont hurt them trying after all what would you have liked to see in the sims 2. Well i've said most of whats on my mind about The Sims 2 now i'll let you guy's coment on either what i've said or what you think could should have been included in this game so please feel free to coment on any console or handheld version/s and thanks.

Agree with you ... but its unfair

Totally agree with you, there are alot of new things - but what really annoys me is that when they brought it out on PC they made this BIG issue of the growing old thing and having kids - and then when they brought it out on console - they conviently didnt advertise the fact that it would be different they preferred people to buy it thinking it would be same and then once they bought it they realised it was different. I mean i was happy they were bringing it out on console - they said "you can play they sims2 on your console game" but it wasnt the sims 2 - it was piss weak version and i think if they wanted too - they could make a version where you could raise a family and have kids etc .... and i wish they would and i think alot if people would buy it even if that was the main aim of the game... i mean i would. I think its unfair that Console holders dont get to experience it .. i mean i have a computer but the amount of strain sims2 puts on your computer is ridiculous. If they were to bring out a version to just raise a family etc i would be happy.

I totally agree but in stead all they seem to do is take out the main parts of the game and put in there own idea's as if people wanted direct control and to play as a gost don't get me wrong its fun but they could have left that out and made TS2 as close as posable to the P.C version i mean its not that hard all the idea's are there already all they have to do is think what would people want in the game and to be honest they already new what we the fans want cos we all said would'nt it be cool if you could wright your own stories and have kids grow into adults when they were making Bustin Out. I agree with you about not buying the P.C version to cos there just so much software you need before you can play TS2 on your P.C but then when you remove the game from the hard drive you end up loosing some important data so in stead we brought a console so that we could play games like this and then when we buy the games there nothin like what we expected. i think we sould have guessed that there was somethink wrong cos they never released that much details about TS2 and all the screenshots & video's were focused on the new things you could buy rather then the things they new we wanted to see.

What i dont like about console versions

I think the most disappointing thing about console version is the limit of what you can buy, you get to a certain point and you cant buy anything anymore and if you do something bursts out in flames - i reckon they should take out that pointless story mode and add generations, two storey houses and more items because honestly the choice of items is ridiculous and what happened to the pool???? They had more choice in the original sims, bustin out and urbz. I dont know who created the console version but oh my god they must have been drunk or high - otherwise how could they have got it SOOOOO wrong.

I have the sims 2 for playstation 2 and I thought it's going to be so fun to play but when I started playing it it got boring quickly. The sims 2 for playstation 2 is nothing compared to the sims 2 for pc. I think buying the sims 2 for console especially for playstation 2 is pointless. There is no point in the game.

Hmmm. Not quite so sure I agree with that. All the points in this thread havce been justified, but I think they didn't advertise families etc because the game doesn't actully hold them. If, for instance, they showed families in the game for consoles, but it didn't have them, then there would be even more angry customers. Some people just assumed that the console version would entail every single delight of the pc version.

I don't think the creators were out to fool you.

I own the game for pc, but I realise why you mislike the console version.

i really like the direct control function because it is a different way to play the game (like Urbz in the City). they seriously should have more wallpapers, floors, furniture objects to choose from. oh, and more clothing options too. i did love the western/victorian/asian themes of objects for the house. they should have more themes like these in the games instead of just random things. the playing as a ghost was an interesting concept, at least they didn't stay dead like in past games of the series, plus more interaction as a dead sim (wasn't that also in the pc version?) i wish they had the aging/children in the console games though because that is the part i really wanted to try lol. Sims2 for GBA on the other hand....now THAT game should've had more items choices for your house (anyone who has played this one, knows what i mean lol). i did like the recyclables for selling, although i would prefer the actual job system.

I love my Sims 2 on my PS2, don't get me wrong. The one thing that bugs me most is that it freezes every now and then and makes me think its got my old PS2 working overtime just to give me good graphics. I guess this is common. Also the loooonnnnnnngg save and load times, 30 seconds (aprox.) for me. Then lastly, the child/aging thing. This is a odd delete choice for the console versions, but hey, if thats what Maxis and EA wanted to do, then so be it. Lets just hope that they reconsider for The Sims 3.

Sorry for the double posts guys.

I don't agree with that at all. I think there are a lot of folks here that don't agree with that. If you haven't noticed, in your start menu, there is a item called progress. You work to try to raise that to 100%. If you think there is no point in the game, then you must not like challenges. And in case your saying, "Yeah, screw you buddy, I bet you don't do it."

Matter of fact, mine is at 67%.

Once again, please excuse the double posting.

I was thinking of buying the Sims 2 for PS2 cos my game-system has crashed on my computer. I went on the sims 2 website looked at the PS2 and it all seemed really cool - but of course it wasn't anywhere near as good as the PC Sims 2...

I was so close to buying it untill I read somewhere that you couldn't have kids, second floors, no pools. That changed my mind big time. Sure, I can live without the pools. Second floors was pushing it a bit, but yeah I could live with out that as well but no kids! That was the last straw!! What's the point in sims if you can't have kids??

And the whole aging thing.. wasn't that the POINT of the Sims 2? That there was aging going on? And then Maxis took it away in the PS2 version - what was that about? Wrong thing to do if you ask me but if they thought that would sell then sure... whatever. :yuck:

They need to fix that, if you ask me. :irked:

I do agree with the above poster. I do think that there should be pools and aging and kids and second floors. But it bugs me when you guys say there no point it the game. There is to a point. You unlock new locations to live in story mode, you unlock new things to purchase, you have to complete all jobs to the highest level of completion. Come on, there are many points to the game. I can see where you guys are coming from, but come on now.

I agree with a poster above said. They should've taken out the story mode and that would give the CD more room for more items, build options, ect. That would be cool if they made an open-play Sims game with all the items from the previous console versions. I love customization! Oh, and the Sims games are the only ones I have for my Gamecube, so they get boring after a week or so. Too bad Wal-Mart doesn't sell Gamecube games anymore, even if it is in the $10 bin.

What Mirelly means (personal translator is back again, Mirelly! Dun dun DURRN! :D) is that this thread is 12 months old... Dead threads don't want to be resurrected. They prefer stayin' dead and so do we. Hint hint? *pokes simsguy with a cucumber* :p
