HomecrafterPlus and missing .pdb files Hello, I have Sims2 and Nightlife. Two days ago, I downloaded Homecrafter .exe file and ran it. (english edition) When I click on the Icon, it doesn't run, or when I try to run it by any means. (clicking on .exe file or clicking on it in program files) I get a message that includes ".pdb files seem to be absent." I have restarted my computer after install and not started my computer after install. I have also just ran the .exe file from the website and it is the same. My computer is pretty hefty. It runs Nightlife without any problems. EA games told me that didn't support it. Any ideas? I can list the entire error file if necessary. Thanks, Bill
Homecrafter Plus isn't NL compatible! Bill, I recently ran into the same problem and have been searching for that answer myself. Apparently, homecrafter Plus isn't Nightlife compatible. Or it does not work when you have Sims2 and Nightlife installed. I have no idea why. Some have tried to contact maxis but they do not seem intent upon fixing the problem. I have been looking for an alternative to using Homecrafter plus and have heard that one can use SimPE but I am unsure how to go about doing this. Perhaps with the next EP those of us who are University Deprived or University boycotters will be have the privilege of using Homecrafter Plus. Hope this clears things up (as there is no solution), Amber
Amber, Thanks for the info. I have tried several sites with no luck finding an answer. Hopefully, something or someone will come along and find a solution. Bill
Bill, I have recently been on MTS2 and found a way to open Homecrafter Plus. Simply right-click on the Homecrafter application (the shortcut Icon will work as well) and click "Run as" Then in when the following window appears click "Ok". This should open Homecrafter Plus for you. In my case, I was able to open Homecrafter, however I cannot import or export walls or floors in my game. I keep getting the same error: "Not enough hard disk space to export selected textures." I've tried everything, just about all to no avail. I've tried all of the following: 1. Uninstalled, re-installed homecrafter 2. Deleted and re-created the Working Directory folder 3. de-selected the read-only file in the folder properties, it keeps re-appearing 4. Cloned an already-existing wall and copied & pasted over, still won't export. 5. Checked dialogue description box character text count. 6. Made sure the file was not deleted before I attempted to upload/extract. I am wondering if perhaps it is because either a)I do not have Uni and have skipped it and went to NL, or b) some anti-virus program is preventing me from using the shared documents. I have also checked my hard drive space on drive C and have 164GBs of hard drive space and have only used 17.4. So alas, I am truly stumped! However, maybe you will be able to run Homecrafter without any problems! I hope so, at least one of us can!! Happy Simming and Good Luck! Amber
Well, it looks like we are in the same boat. Yes, it will open as you found out. But I get the same error. I tried to open it with the "run as" and uncheck the box that says something about protecting computer from outside activity but it will not open with that box unchecked. I tried to "Create New texture" and it says that I have no .bmp's in "documents and settings/allusers/ea games/ TheSIMS2/etc but my game is not under "allusers" and when I check the folder where my Sims2 is, it doesn't have Homecrafters Plus under Sims2. Then when I try to "clone selected textures" it gives me the not enough hard disk space error. I have used Simpe to create new paintings. If I can find wallpaper in it, I will try it and let you know how it works. Bill
