Who's the boss? Okay, I need some help in how to lead my sims lives. They seem to want to go differently then what I planned for them. 1st - Male knowledge sim married to a female Fam sim. Before getting married she wanted to have baby, fall in love, etc. All he wanted to do was study. Now they are married and immediately he rolled the have a baby want. At first I ignored it but after (whoohoo) he rolled it again. So now I thought great, she will roll it and they will both have the want for kids. Problem is, she is not rolling that want. She thinks about it but all she rolls is flirt, talk, entertain, whoohoo, be friends. Is my fam sim trying to tell me she doesn't want kids, just be married and reach golden anniv? 2nd - Male knowledge sim, married to female furtune sim (former townie Trina Anderson). Before getting married he fell in love with townie Christy. He is not attracted to her. When I have him "check sim out" he shrugs. But he keeps rolling wants to invite her over, talk to her, etc. She is in love with him too so I know if I invite her over there is going to be trouble. Besides I see here swooning over all the males in the hood. Why does he want to mess with Christy when he isn't even attracted to her? He is attracted to his wife though. I don't want him to have Christy on the side. There is also another downtownie relationship that he's got going. Before getting married he only had a crush on her (Katrina). She called maybe 2x. but I was letting that relationship dwindle. While I was playing one of my other sims I see him downtown talking to her. I heard music (like when sims fall in love) but I didn't see any hearts as I was paying attention to the sim I was playing at the time. All of a sudden all of the sims (townies included) run to one side of the place (I forget why). I thought oh no, where is Tony (my sim). Sure enough he is over on the other side kissing Katrina. He is suppossed to want to learn not mess around. He is a family man. He had a son and he is a good father. Should I have him leave Trina? 3rd - My female popularity sim. She is attracted to two townies guys and vice versa, Joe Carr and Avri Lanchild. Both are dark skinned with red hair. First she met Joe and they were all over each other. They fell in love without any influence from me. So I was going to get them married. Then she met Avri. When I saw him, I didn't like him at first (long hair) but he has started to grow on me with those green eyes. He is much nicer than Joe, who is in fights with everyone. She is attracted to him also and they fell in love. Now I don't know who to marry her off to. So I do an experiment to see who she leans more towards by inviting them both over (trouble I know but I kept my finger on the pause button) Even with Avri there she kept rolling wants for Joe. Ok. but I like Avri more. Next day, I send her on a date with Avri. The normal date wants roll. Then all of a sudden in the middle of the date (while toasting with Avri) she rolls the want to marry Joe (???). She has never rolled that before and in the middle of a date with Avri . Okay so the date ends (dream date) and all. She invites Avri over and asks him to stay the night. I waited to see if the marry Avri want would roll but nope. She only rolls talk to him, entertain, kiss, etc. then starts rolling the Joe wants again. Is she trying to tell me whom she wants to marry? I like Avri more than Joe though. So do I lead their lives or should I let them and see where it goes? (Glad there's people I could discuss this with and not be considered "crazy"...LOL)
Well, for the first 2, I'd say just let them happen, as it makes for a fun and interesting story. You don't have to post any story threads, of course, but I find it fun to watch sims slap each other, cry about their ex, experience aspiration failure...I guess that's just me. As for the 3rd, just make her marry Avri if you really want her to. It's not like the sims will go into a depression and stop obeying you if you make them do something they don't want to.
I know it really doesn't matter. (maybe I'm making to much out of it.) I want control yet I see them as being their own people/sims. Love your quote from Everybody loves Raymond by the way.
Hmm, wonder what happens if you have two Romance Sims that want to marry each other but fear marrying each other. I'd like to try that out.
romance sims want to avoid commitment to 1........ Don't think that "living together" would make them happy unless you used that robot thingy to change their wants.........??
Actually, my favorite couple right now are both romance sims, and they do fine. They get lots of wants for woohoo, make out, slow dance, etc., and always have someone there to fulfill them. In fact, they each have so many points I was forced to buy them some stuff they didn't need so their wants would roll over. They go on something like five dates a week, probably more, and go out on their own to meet new conquests, which they then have to hide from each other ... I like when they cheat on each other because it adds some drama. These are sims, not real life, and it's all fantasy anyway. They can apologize, which is cute, and falling in love again with someone who's really mad at you is a fun challenge. Not everyone's idea of fun, I know, but I've got my happily married sims as well to balance things out. Keeps the game from being boring. The point to all this is, they're not miserable. Actually, quite the opposite. They're almost always in the platinum or gold.
1st - Go ahead and let her get pregnant. On the second day or so of pregnancy, she'll roll the want to have a baby. Works for me everytime! 2nd - I do believe that he will keep rolling wants for Christy and Katrina as long as he's in love with them. If you don't want him cheating, you'll have to invite them over and irritate them until the love/crush is broken. Then they will just be friends. He still might roll wants for them, but it will be like any other friend. 3rd - If you like Avri better, let her marry him. You'll be forced to play with whoever she marries, and it's no fun to play with sims you don't like. Then make her break her crush on Joe by irritating him a lot. On the other hand, you could ruin Joe's life by letting him marry her, then cheat with Avri and make her leave him. Good times!
Mango, thanks. I forgot about "irritate" to make the relationship score drop. The thing with Christy is, every time I invite her over, I constantly have to keep canceling her advances towards my sim. She always wants to kiss on him. She is a hot one! I just found out yesterday that he wants to be a Criminal Mastermind even though his aspiration is Knowledge. Funny thing is, he has a good relationship score (daily and lifetime) with the robber (female) who broke into the house a long time ago. Him and his roommate were furious with the robber for a long time but after the state cleared they have good relationship scores. Go figure since I've never even called the robber. So, since his wife is a fortune sim I'm contemplating letting him pursue the criminal life. It makes for an interesting story line...he befriends the robber, she gets him caught up in the criminal life, now those luxuries that his wife keeps wanting are actually "stolen" property from others. These sims of mine are turning out to be some very interesting characters. For my female popularity sim, I thought about letting one move in, seeing how that goes (if I like playing him), letting her have a child (to see the genetics) then if I don't like him, move him out and let the other move in and repeat the process. She can then propose marriage to whomever she (I) wind up liking the best. The thing is, the game won't have a Joe or Avri for future generations (unless it will create them again). I'm beginning to think Joe is a moocher. He is always coming home with my Knowledge sim (couple #1). I think he likes his wifes (Fam sim) cooking.
Knowledge sims and fortune sims both want to be criminals. Lilith Pleasant, her husband Colin Biscotti, and Colin's mother Almondia all wanted to be criminals. (Colin was fortune and Lilith and Almondia were knowledge.) I played along like the 3 of them were founding a huge crime family. They wound up with tons of money. Criminals get really good chance cards, they pay a lot! I was looking forward to the next generation of Biscottis terrorizing Pleasantview with their evil schemes. But then the Great Hard Drive Crash of '05 happened, and they were erased forever when the 2 kids were little. Lilith and Colin were my favorite sims. I can get Lilith back, of course, but Colin and Almondia were CAS sims. With your Joe vs. Avri, you can put the "loser" on a lot by himself and just don't play him. He'll be kind of like a townie for future generations.
Mango, it worked like you said. Once they tried for a baby she had the want to have a baby. Thank you.
With my sims, I have a little story-line set up when I create them, it's like "Here's who this person is." And then I play wherever their wants or my whims take me, with no real plan for them. My Jackson Hicks was going steady with the papergirl as a teen. He is a family sim, and so I knew that he would want to marry her. So when it was time for him to go off to UNI, I sent her with him. (I can't remember her name, Moiria I think. She's the dark-haired girl.) He continued to love her and spent more time in her dorm room than his own until his senior year. Through "hanging out" and "Playing kicky-ball" and all the other autonomous socializing that sims do when you are not mircro-managing them, he had developed a deep friendship with Virginia Warner. I had planned on Virginia marrying Kaleb Simpson, and pairing up two of the wealthiest families in town. Well, Virginia liked Kaleb, but she had three "lightning bolts" for Jackson, and wanted to ask him out on a date. One date, they were madly in love and wanted to get married. Moiria's in my family bin, graduated but unused now.
