Loading Sims - file transfer problem

I've been moving some programs from the C to D drive on my PC. all until I came to Sims2.
I removed everything from the C drive, then tried to re-install on the D. all goes fine until disc 4; then I get the following error message:
"A problem occured when trying to transfer file 'TSData/Res/Sound/CAS.package' from the media'.
It asks if I want to retry - but retrying brings up the same error message again.

any suggestions on what to would be welcome
    thanks

For the most part, TS2 needs to be on the same drive as your operating system. There are ways of moving things at least partially to another drive, but they are meant to be used by advanced users (well beyond my scope of ability).

The ability to have it on another drive may not be available for TS2, as it may have been TS2U that introduced the ability to have at least some of it in another drive. Or it may have started with the original patch. But TS2 itself is not movable to another drive.
