AAWWW I noticed something so sweet last night! I have this one neighborhood that I want to populate with two familes The Hatfields and The McCoys. After 10 generations of each family I want to see how much of the original look is still in each family and how much has crossed over family lines. Anyway I have this one couple who had a son then the father got the flu. The first time I just started playing with the family and he went to work before I realized that he was sick. When he got home Grimmy met him out by the curb. So I quit without saving because I really adore this couple and didn't want to loose him. So when I went back the second time he was relaxing on the bed and just got up and died. I didn't have the chance to keep him home from work or anything. This time I let it go like that because I figured that for whatever reason the game was going to kill him off no matter what I did. Well the reason I liked this family so much is because they really seemed to love each other. The husband and wife would spontaneously kiss, flirt etc. They constantly had wants to interact with each other and their son. She is a wealth sim and he was a knowledge sim. Now to the sweet part. Last night I was playing this family and noticed that she dreams of her deceased husband with the hearts floating around him. I've never had that happen before. When a sim dies they may spontaneously grieve for a time but they don't think about that sim much any more. But she has dreams about her husband just about every night! I thought that was so sweet! I have never had anyone die from the flu, but last night when I was playing my entire clan came down with it! Mom and Dad caught it first, and gave it to their kids when they were invited to a graduation party and the two that were graduating had it too. So I had three households down with the flu. I took good care of them and they're all better. Whew. I haven't checked on the player sim that was invited to the party, though. I'd better make sure she's OK, too ... Never had an epidemic like that before. I would have been devastated if one of them had died. Perhaps I'm getting a little too attached?
My sims had the flu last night too! I didn't think it was catchy, so I had the sim I was currently playing (Angel) invite another one of my sims (Cynthia) over. I didn't know anything was wrong until the next day at Angel's wedding when Cynthia showed up and started coughing. I backed out of the lot and didn't save because I had two other sims there who just had a baby and I didn't want them to get sick. So I had the wedding without Cynthia there. Sure enough when I went to Cynthia's lot, she was sick with the flu. I nursed her back to health real quick. Thankfully when I went to the newly sim parents house they didn't have the flu. I know now not to have sims around each other when they are sick if I don't want it to spread.
It must be an epidemic, because one of my sims got sick with the flu last night, too. I still had him spend the entire night stargazing, hoping he would be abducted (it's my legacy family). I've had him stargazing most of his adult life (he reached his LTW of becoming a Business Tycoon really early, and his work schedule works well with stargazing). He's now about 8 days away from becoming an elder, and still no abductions. But back to the flu...I got the pop-up that he was sick, sent him to stargaze for about 6 or seven hours, then sent him to bed for about 6 hours, then sent him to work. His needs increase at work (he doesn't lose energy at all, which is why he's able to stargaze from 7pm-2am). While he was at work I got the pop-up that he was well again. I've actually been trying to get him and his wife sick. I figure I've already got a platinum fortune tombstone, so I don't need the husband's, and I'm going to use their son for my platinum family grave, so I don't need the wife. I've had her eat entire plates of spoiled food 3 times in 2 days, and she's still fit as a fiddle. What's up with that? BTW, sorry for the stream of consciousness of this post.
I had a whole town come down with it, lost many of my favorite characters. Ruthie, that is sweet. I've seen spouses dream about their dear-departed ones, but not since I had NL, so no hearts. BTW, a little off topic, but I have some Hatfields in my Family Tree. No joke, no lie.
I have an ancestor called Aaron Burr Franklin, but I think his parents just admired Aaron Burr. He was actually a really intelligent person who contributed a lot to society, and all people remember him for is shooting Alexander Hamilton, who by all accounts was a hothead who goaded him into a duel. Interesting how one little thing can change your life forever. But back then a gentleman didn't back down from a duel. That would be unthinkable. I just love the human side of history ... reading about wars bores and depresses me, but individual lives, that's different. OK, COMPLETELY off topic. Quick, back on topic ... I have an actual question. Here goes: I keep checking on Skye and Alec, the only two people from the party who didn't come down with the flu. I've played them each for a day or so even though it's not their turn (got to get Apollo to college!) just to make sure they were OK. They showed no signs of flu. Does this mean they're OK? I'd hate for them to die just now ... I haven't had a whole lot of people get sick with flu. The occasional cold and food poisoning, sure, but not flu. Any help would be appreciated.
If you have a townie at your sims house when they are sick with the flu, can that Townie get sick and spread it? I thought about giving the flu to the townies that keep picking on my sims but don't want it to spread. This lead me to find a good way to use those influence points...okay so you want to knock over my garbage...now you will be my maid for the day
LOL, PlayLives. I had a coach come and try to make my sims exercise while they were recovering from the flu! I hate that you can't ask them to leave. Grrrr ... though Alec, who was resting "just in case" shooed him away spontaneously. Like, go away, you annoying elder, can't you see I'm trying not to get sick? Ariel, who is normally very nice, has started using them as skill vac victims. If a coach so much as steps onto their property, they'd better watch out if she's in the gold ... so far she's gained two body points that way. I don't think you can get sick from townies. I'm not sure exactly how Castor and Zaire got sick. I'm pretty careful about making them wash their hands, not eat spoiled food, etc. It was probably random.
This is my first sim to have die from flu. The first time he died I had got a message while he was at work that he was well again so I was totally surprised that he died. The second time he just would not stay in that bed and rest. It was like forces beyond my control were determined that it was his time to go. The only reason I even noticed that she was dreaming about him is because I heard the "I've got a crush on you" music and thought maybe I could find her a new hubby that she was already attracted to. She doesn't seem to be attracted to anyone. I've had her scope the room and no one seems to strike her fancy. I kinda wish I could write something on her tombstone about what a faithful wife she was to Liam even after his untimely death. Ruth
