original sims2 families won't load in nightlife and crash computer I installed both university and nightlife, but I've already had a bunch of good families going in sims 2, for some reason it will run nightlife with only new families and the computer will stall with the little hourglass until I manually shut-down the computer and restart it. How can I get my original families to run. I can't even go back to running sims2 because, as you well know, the nightlife expansion converted the files. What am I supposed to do now?
I've had that happen a bit too. What worked for me is to work with a family that is next door to the family you want to play. Then rather than starting from the neighborhood screen, click and play from the new family to the old one next door. This seems to happen most if the family and/or house is large. Nightlife put a *lot* of strain on the computer specs compared to TS2 or even TS2with Uni. (I have a good system, but even so it seemed to strain it. But at least it doesn't require SLI with 2 Geforce 7800 GTXs like some of the newer games.) Just a little hint for the future: it's a good idea to have a copy of your TS2 file in a folder somewhere on your computer when you add a new EP. That way if you decide to play without the new EP, you can still use your familiar family. And if there is a problem during installation, nothing is lost. I know that it's too late for your current folder, but its something that will be useful in the future. (Take it from someone who also had to learn the hard way about that.)
