    No sound

I opened up the Sims 2 and there was absolutely no sound. No music, no sound effects. Also the intro movie and the EA thing at the beginning of the game don't play. I use a mac with Mac OS X 10.4.3.

Did you download the latest patch available for Sims 2 for Mac?

I've also noticed something else. Quicktime also no longer has any sound when I play movies in it. Theres obviously a common thread here, I just can't figure it out.

Sounds like your sound device needs troubleshooting. I know diddly-squat about Macs but I presume they have some kind of control panel by means of which you can access information about your various system's bits and pieces???

Nope, the computer can still make sound, iTunes is working just fine.

I've even gone as far as to reinstall the game completely, and that didn't do anything.

    uninstall quick-time?
uninstall itunes ... ta da!! Maybe iTunes is hogging the OS's file-type definition ... might be worth a try ;)

    I fixed it!

I finally fixed it by getting really angry at the computer and reinstalling the operating system. Drastic, I suppose, but it worked!

    suitemichelle Gramma's here!

I wonder if a custom re-install would have worked?
