    A question about DirectX 9.0c

Earlier, I tried played a demo of Rome: Total War and I was asked for DirectX 9.0. I didn't need to play the game but I was curious about it I am taking computer courses but I was clueless about it. I looked it up on Wikipedia and asked a few classmates of mine. I am getting the Sims 2 in a few weeks and really want it to play well on my new computer. I was hoping could someone explain DirectX more to me. Also if I have problems with DirectX, how can I fix it???

To the best of my knowledge and understanding, DirectX is basically a whole bunch of preset computer graphics modules Microsoft developed specifically for rendering graphics and other attributes of a game (joystick/audio) on Windows. These objects or modules basically allow Game Programmers to utilize preset functions within Windows to be exploited for their purposes to maximize the potential of the game, by adding bits of code to take advantage of the DirectX functionality when it does direct interfacing with graphics or audio boards.

You can get DirectX 9.0c, Free of Charge at http://www.microsoft.com/directx

Cool, I read about a person who needs DirectX 9.0 to play The Sims 2 and he/she is having a hard time getting it to work. If do I do if the same thing happens to me?

I honestly can't say yes or no. Computers are like people in many ways...they each have their own unique personalities.
