Help! Does anyone know anything about MS Excel? I had a job interview last week, and was asked if I was comfortable with Excel. I said yes, I was. (I am, pretty much, and what I don't know I can usually hunt and peck and figure out). She then asked me if I knew how to create charts, and I said, "Oh, sure. I don't do them often, but I basically know how." (little white lie). So then she asked me if I were called into a second interview, would I feel comfortable putting a power-point presentation together for the Admistration Team, including this pie chart, and doing a presentation. The job is for a Training coordinator. I'll be training new hires on how to use a computer for simple things like data entry. But then, part of my job will be to track each class with excel and then present to my supervisers how well (or badly) each student has done during the probationary period. Well, I figured, I know how to do a spreadsheet, do them all the time at work. I can pull up my sheets and make some graphs. Well, nope. The wizzard is not helpful, I don't even know what to ask the "Help" Wizzard, and my graphs don't look like graphs!! Here's what I want to do: I have a spreadsheet with 4 employees. All I want to do is count the number of clients each employee sees per month, and then import that data into a pie chart. Something like, Sally sees 20 clients, Betty sees 10, Becky sees 23, etc.
Okay here's what I think you're trying to do. Simple steps and pics okay? ^Enter all your info. ^Highlight the data ^Start up the chart wizard. (Highlighted) ^Use data labels to select any other information you would like to include. ^If you chose to select the other items I showed you I would remove the legend. (Unchecking the box) Click next and then click finish. Reply if you require anymore assistance. (Or tips for decorating it. i.e. colors.)
I changed mine to the dog Flameback, what version of Excel is that? Looks nice and purdy with the blue and orange toolbar.
It's the 2003 version, although now the toolbars are silver. (I hate the default Windows blue color.)
LOL there's a very funny movie clip about that paperclip but it contains very bad language that might be offend some visitors ... so I concluded that anyone with a search engine can find it if they really want to see how funny it is
Flamey, that was awsome. It helped me so much, thank you! I got a call back for the second interview. I must prepare a 15 minute presentation on any subject I like and deliver it to the Senior Administative Staff. :vomit: Yes, power point is available if I would like to use it. I can do power point in my sleep. My problem is, what do I talk about for 15 minutes? Hubby suggested that I give them a presentaion on why they should hire me, as if I were pitching a sale. Maybe a little on my skills, my work experience, what they would be getting in an employee. But, I would think that everyone would do that, right? I want to stand out. But the only other things I can think about that I'm knowledgable enough to present are local history and Simming!
If you have time you could make a Sim movie to put your point across. If you make the movies silent you could apply your own soundtrack ... perhaps designed to be presented with a live commentary. If nothing else it would be different and as one who has sat thru far too many presentations different is good (as long as relevance remains, of course) Since you're being asked to make a Power Point presentation you already know that you will have access to a Windows computer so, by definition, there'll be some version of Windows Media Player installed ... and since the hardware is almost certain to be a notebook you can be sure that, at least, the machine will have some tinny but otherwise adequate speakers ... Good luck, anyway, darlin', got me fingers crossed for ya.
I would do something a little humourous. I'd get like a black and wite movie clip of you could make your own like a music video if you have Picture Package - and then show that with your skills and new ideas for the company, switch to a modern fresh song, a brighter tomorrow and all that jazz.
