can't build it! Okay, I did search the whole forum under 'driveway' and 'garage' and I can't find the answer. I can't build a driveway. I cleared enough space, but when I click on the driveway it only comes up red and I can't move the outline around, and some always sticks out onto the street. I must be placing it wrong. Help, Hill Billy's family really needs a beater.
first you need a driveway extension piece, which i think is the long one with the thing on the end. And then you put the other bit over it. Ok that doesnt really make sense. But look in the nightlife manual it tells you there. If in dobut just get a house that already has a driveway. Sorry i couldnt be of much help anyone else..... xoxox
OK first off the moveobjects cheat must be off. To be sure press [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[C] and type moveobjects off then press [Enter] Next the driveway comes as a driveway and a driveway exyension piece. Extensions cannot be placed until there is a drieway. The driveway protudes into the street because that's where the cars reverse out to so the space has to be reserved there. For this reason you can't plop a drive close to right hand edge of the lot ... the driveway outline is L shaped with the foot of the L in the street and all of it must fit inside the actual lot's width. The drive cannot be placed over the mailbox or trashcan ... try placing it to the left of them. and keep it away from the edge of the lot as much as possible or you will have big problems with pedestrian portals and "mind the car" move orders. Finally. You might have an invisible token blocking a square. Find it by trying to place a flamingo, say, on each square until you come up with one that won't let ya. Pescado's invisible stuck object remover is the perfect little device for this annoying game glitch.
Sounds complicated. My entire life is plagued with invisible tokens anyway. This means all my vast architectural accomplishments will have to be modified (some of them fill each corner, and of course I cleared the right-hand corner). Luckily the Hill Billy family lives in squalor and won't notice. I'll try again, thanks Mirelly.
when i try and build a driveway it never lets me actually PLACE the driveway, i grab it and put it into the place where i want it the outside goes green but the hand wont let go of it. any suggestions :cheeky:
still no can do Okay, no invisible objects, nothing near by, several squares from the lot's edge, and can't place a driveway. dang. my life would be PERFECT if I had a driveway.
Wait, did you say right hand corner? There might be enough room for the driveway, but not enough on the road. The driveway requires road space for the animation of the car backing out of the driveway and taking off. I have a hard time placing driveways on the right side of lots, especially smaller lots. Try the left side of the lot and see if your problem is fixed.
