Can't get nonplayer sim to move out of dorm My last nonplayer sim refuses to move out of the dorm. I'm playing in one of the six room dorms and currently I have 6 player sims and one nonplayer sim living there. I had to double up on the beds and put two cousins in the same room. Every time I play that dorm I get the message about having too many sims in the dorm and not to worry because the nonplayer sim will gather his things and move out. Well he never gathers his things instead a lot of times he'll lock his door! The last sim I moved in doesn't seem to be having any problems though. She goes to class, is in her third semester and was able to choose a major. She can do everything but choose a dorm room. Is there a way to force that guy out? The funny thing is that one of my other students has become obsessed with this student that won't move out! The two of them are constantly hanging out, having a pillow fight, or in the hot tub. I just hope I don't have a problem when it comes time for everyone to graduate. Hopefully when one of the two juniors graduate then my last student will be able to claim one of their doors and finally have her own room. Ruth
Well there's one way to get the reluctant dormie to go ... but it's a little mean Set moveobjects on and then go into build or buy mode (doesn't really matter) With the hand tool take hold of the door belonging to the dormie and hold down the shift key then move the door somewhere and let go of it but still holding down the shift key. You should now have a brand new door in your "hand" place that where the original one was and delete the original. Now get your playable sim to quickly claim the new door and er ... lock it :rotfl::sly: The homeless NPC dormie should then leave ...
OH thanks so much Mirelly! I'm going to try it tonight if I can and hope it works. I just thought since you aren't supposed to be able to do much in build mode in a dorm that you wouldn't be able to change the door. I can hardly wait to hand him his eviction notice! Ruth
Well Mirelly your suggestion worked in a way. Now the only problem is that the old furniture is still in the room, I just can't see it. So far I've been able to work around it by putting more furniture in, sometimes right next to the old stuff. The new bed is right next to the old one but you don't know it unless you try to move it back against the wall. Fortunately there was enough room between the old bed and desk to slip in a new bed. I put a new desk against the opposite wall from the old one. I was worried that the new stuff would disappear once I got out of buy mode but it didn't. It's not perfect but at least she has a room that she's able to use. thanks, Ruth
I tried but it's invisible. When I deleted the door and the furniture disappeared I didn't think anything about it but then when I went into buy mode it was still gone. I tried to put a bed in the corner where the old one was but it says there's already something there. Well with the moveobjects on cheat you can put a bed there but she complains that something is in the way. I tried to grab the invisible furniture but it acts like there's nothing there to grab/delete. Ruth
Ah you'll be needing Pescado's indispensible stuck object remover after you download it, unzip into the My Doc~\EA Games\The Sims 2\ folder and then load up the dorm, go into the buy catalogue >> miscellanous items >> miscellaneous bits and pieces and you'll find a handy invisible object you can buy for $1. Plonk it in the affected room and go back to live mode and you should get a message telling you that certain items have been "burninated" ... you might be advised to move any furniture you have bought out of the way cos the stuck object remover is a blunt instrument (Either that or use a strategic kaching cheat or two to help you replace anything you lose ... ) Darn it, I feel like I am leading you deeper and deeper into the way of the cheating hacker ... LOL ... I only play with maximum Pescado hacks ... which means I never have to use money cheats ... well almost never
