    Help!!!

Okay, I just got Sims 2 and when I went to put it in my computer it gets messed up. It first asks me which language I want and seems to work fine but after a I pick a language it pops up a program error saying: "THE SIMS 2_UNIN.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You need to restart the program. An error log is being created." So I wait for it to create its log. Then, it pops up saying: "Error executing 'E:\Support\The Sims 2_Code/exe' %1 is not a valid Win32 application." So, I go to Explore All Users and drop down the E:\ drive directory tree and go to the 'Support' file. I scroll down and double-click the 'The Sims 2_Code.exe' after which it quickly prompts me with a "'The Sims 2_Code.exe' is not a valid Win32 application." Do I not have the necessary programs to run the code? HELP! I REALLY want to play this game I'm not I can take it back after I've opened it. HELP!!!

Any chance we can find out what your computer specs are and also what the exact error details are?

    Intel Pentium III
    Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
    256MB RAM
    182MB used, 434MB available
and my graphics card is an Intel810

Now I just copied this off of DirectX so I'm not sure whether the system requirements are exact (though it seems like it, the only one I'm not sure of is my graphics card and I don't think that's the prob).

And I don't know what you mean by 'error details.' Where can I find them?

Yup...as I feared. You are running a computer that's outdated and can't support The Sims 2.

As it currently stands, the minimum requirements are:
    • Windows XP, ME, 98, or 2000 operating system.
    • 1000 MHz (1 GHz) or faster processor.
    • 256 MB or more RAM.
    • At least 1.5 GB of additional hard drive space.
    • Supported T&L-capable video card with at least 32 MB of video RAM.
    Supported Video Cards:
    • ATI Radeon series 8500 or better (7x00 models no longer supported), All-In-Wonder 8500, 9000, 9200, 9500, 9600, 9700, 9800, X300, X600, X700, X800, and X850.
    • NVIDIA GeForce 2, 2 GTS, 3, 3 Ti, 4, 4 Ti, 4200, 4600, and 4800.
    • NVIDIA GeForce MX 420, 440, and 460.
    • NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200, 55500, 5600, 5700, 5800, 5900, and 5950.
    • NVIDIA GeForce PCX 5300, and 5900.
    • NVIDIA GeForce 6200, 6600, and 6800.
    • NVIDIA Quadro, Quadro2, and Quadro4.
    • Intel Extreme Graphics 82865, 82915, and higher.
NOTE: If you have a non-T&L capable video card, such as Intel Extreme Graphics, then you need at least a 2.4 GHz processor.

So what should I do? Just sell it on eBay? Do stores even take back something like that after being opened? Can I buy a new processor or are they pretty expensive? For that matter, if the price-range is plausible, is it easy to install? I'm sort of frustrated 'cause I spent 39 dollars off of a 100 dollars Target Gift Certificate that I got for X-Mas. Infact I WAS going to buy World Winning Eleven 8 but NOOOO, I had to go and buy flippin' Sims 2.......

BTW, Manager Josh, thanks for all the help bro. ;)

Basically your computer is so old, you might as well buy a brand new one.

I have the same problem. The minimum Hardware requirements according to the case is 800Mhz, Not 1000Mhz. I have 866Mhz and a GeForce 4 420 video card. I'm running 512Mb Ram. I'm running Windows 2000sp4. I have tried multiple video drivers and get the same result. Sad Christmas this year for my daughter. I tried loading it on my 1.7Ghz Notebook running WinXPSP2 with an ATI Mobility Radeon X700 graphics adapter. It gives a different error message at the same place Error executing d:\support\the sims 2_unin.exe Only part of the ReadProcessMemory or WriteProcessMemory request completed. Tried it on a windows 2003 server machine with Geforce 4 graphics adapter and 512Mb Ram with no success either. Admittedly that operating system isn't listed as compatible. I previously had it running well on an 866Mhz machine with the only difference being it had a different motherboard.
