So if you have a whole family of sims that all live around the neighborhood with they keep aging even if your playing on specific sim or do you have to play them all for you sims to age normally?

They only age if you play them. Which is why generation after generation that annoying Marsha will continue to get off the bus and call your sims daily! Unless of course she meets with an unfortunate accident...

Okay, seriously, the only way sims age is if you play them yourself. I've forgotten about parents before and their children have turned to elders before they do! Whoops!

You have to play each house for the sims in those houses to age. IF you want them all to age at the same rate you will need to play in a cycle, play one house for three days then move to the next house and play for three days and so on. Even if you invite someone from another house over they do not age. They only age when you play their house.

Only the sims in the household you're playing at the time will age. In order for separate households to age at the same rate you need to play each of them.

For example, I once had a daughter become an elder before her mom because I played her household more.

    Does that answer your question?

You know, now that I think about it, that seems silly. They can get food poisoning, wear down their needs, die and get pregnant on other lots...I think that should count towards their aging as well! Lol...think about it, a male sim could get a female pregnant on his lot when he is in the early states of adulthood. If you never go back to her lot to play her, he could turn into an elder and die before that child is even born...talk about a long gestational period...yuck.

lol, where do you want to go for one? Also, I was typing another response when you entered yours! To be fair, I made it first at 12:48, three whole minutes before you!

LMAO Shana. Twenty years is an awful long time wait to see if it's a boy or a girl.

    So, OK, I guess I'm buying ...

I know why they do it, though. I want to participate in each family's life, not have them suddenly become elders without my knowing it.

A female can only get pregnant on her lot. There shouldn't be a "try for baby" option if you play the males lot and invite the female over. Which is only fair because she should have a choice if she wants to risk pregnancy or not.

Not true anymore. You can get pregnant on a community lot. That's how I got Mallory ...

But the female still needs to initiate it. I played Tiffany on that date, not Porter.

Which, as you say, is only fair.

Well I guess I should have been more clear about that but since Shana was talking about lots I tried to stay in that vein. But for the female to initiate the try for baby you have to be playing from her lot even on a community lot. What I'm trying to say is that Bob can't invite Trish over to his house and get her pregnant either at his house or when he invites her to a community lot. You have to be controlling the female to get the try for baby option unless they are living in the same house.

I hope I explained myself better that time.

Yes, you can too get females pregnant while controlling the male sim and having him initiate it. I did that with Cassandra and Don when I first got the game. You have to have controlled the female character first on her own lot. Then any man can get her pregnant on their lot. Cassandra got pregnant on Don's lot when she was still living at home. I promise it works.

Well it doesn't work like that in my game. The only time I have that option is when I'm controlling the female.

It only works if you've controlled the female before. I didn't get the option to try for a baby with Cassandra until I had played the goth family. Then the next time I played Don the option was there. Before I had played Cassandra it wasn't available.

Hmmm ... I agree with Ruthie. I had a sim I really wanted to get pregnant without her wife finding out, and I'd played her a lot ... she went to her boyfriend's lot and they didn't get that option. So I thought, maybe it's because he was a romance sim so I tried a family guy, still no dice.

I don't know how you did it Shana but it doesn't work that way in my game, either.

I always need to be controlling the female unless she lives with the father to be. I thought that was the way the game worked.

Have the sim click on the mirror and choose Change Appearance. You can choose a new hairstyle, eyebrows, glasses, whatever you like.

It works for every age child and up.
