3rd Party Content and Other Problems There is a great deal of grumbling of Maxis not supporting 3rd party content. So please be aware that we strive to support as much downloaded content as we can, but we cannot control what creators of this content do. User created patches will always break your game. And many objects and skin that may have worked in your older games, were only working because they were forced into the game, so that when you get a new game, with all new IDs and engine design, the downloads will break it. There are literally millions of user created downloads on the web, so we could not possibly check every single one of them to make sure they aren't broken. So please understand that there very well may be a number of people with legitimate problems installing and running our game right now, and we are trying to help them, but we take it very personally when we are accused of being derelect in our ability to make games, and when people in the user community rage at how many people are having problems with our games. Almost 600,000 people have Superstar in their hands already, and many of them seem to like it a great deal, and that makes us happy, and we'd like to make sure that as many people can play it as possible, but please remember, that of all the issues listed on this BBS, 70% of them have been solved by removing custom patches and broken skins, another 15% have been due to an error with a video chipset, but have been fixed with a work around, 10% are due to an error with safedisc, for which there is a hotfix patch available from Microsoft, and the remaining 5% are problems that need to be figured out, and we are trying as hard as we can, and it seems like many are being fixed by following the solutions proposed below. SO if you are still having problems, keep trying tech support, and keep posting here, and we'll try all that we can.
