you should back your files up before hand. if you're using the boolProp you should save the game then re-enter the neighborhood with the cheat enabled and play around a bit to make sure things are going fine.
To paraphrase what (I believe) Ash said: boolprop isn't utterly deadly but it isn't especially safe either. To avoid the worst problems you should save the game before using it so that if a serious problem emerges you can exit without saving and go back to the pre-boolprop saved version. If you want to be really sure you should copy your entire saved games folder (My Doc~/Ea Games/The Sims2/) and save it somewhere else. The full answer is that the game uses invisible tokens to control sims. (eg a "come see" ... new baby, etc) Boolprop is just one of many things can interfere with such things and prevent them from being used and removed. At best an invisible token can render an object (eg a chair) from being usable; at worst it might make a whole household unplayable.
