Adoption help please!! Hi, I just recently adopted a child in the Sims2 and when i got the child, there was one family member home (the father) and he went out to greet the social worker and get the child (toddler actually). Now, the Buy mode and Build mode buttons have gone grey and i can't click on them and when i went to exit the neighborhood those buttons were grey as well. And now i see that the social worker lady's van is still parked in front of my house and she's doing some sort of teleporting thing. She flashes blue and then ends up somewhere else in the street only to do it again. I dont know how to get rid of this social worker and i can't exit out of my game! please help! -Kayleigh
Normally when you adopt a child the buttons go grey until the social worker leaves. She hands the baby to whomever is there and then takes off. However, it sounds to me like your lot is glitchy. You may need to exit without saving, or if you can't do that, shut down your computer and reboot. Move the family to a new lot and try again. I'd bulldoze that lot once the family has moved out.
The social workers usually teleport if there is a problem travelling somewhere, i.e no door. The buttons won't be activated again until shes gone. I'm not sure of a solution though to this if you can't go on to build or buy mode. Usually i would just do the move_objects on cheat and delete her & her van. I think you're just gonna have to sit back and watch what happens next!! Arghh that must be really annoying. Poor you!
You can't do that unless you are in buy/build mode On the plus side I do have help. Have You Exited the game? If you haven't done that yet do that WITHOUT saving and go back to the lot to recieve the baby. This time don't leave the lot to the neighborhood until the social worker has left. This Should work and clear up your problems. But as Surprised By Witches Said, there may be a glitch involved.
