    Alien abduction requirements

I have so far never faced a alien abduction, and I really want one of my male sims to become pregnant with alien babies.

My sims have used the telescope A LOT, but no aliens.

Are there any special requirements that should be met, or is it just very rare?

One family have their telescope on the grass, but the sims I play the most have their telescopes one or two levels up on large balconies. Could this matter? In other words: could someone who been abducted from a balcony please verify that it is possible?

I only use the expensive telescope. That shouldn't matter, should it?

I don't think having it up on the balcony or anything changes things, you just have to be stargazing between certain hours at night (which I can't quite remember now). Hell, you don't even need a telescope, though it probably increases the chance of an abduction. Just keep trying I guess.

I believe the hours are 10pm and 2 am. I finally got my knowledge Sim abducted after trying for hours for 5 consecutive nights. He was on a balcony, using the expensive telescope. I don't think where the telescope is, or the cost of the telescope matters.

Though as for not necessarily needing a telescope to stargaze... that's true. However, according to the strategy guide (which is mostly worthless to but I have found a couple interesting things in it) there is a very small random chance that any teen, adult, or elder stargazing without a telescope or watching the clouds during the daytime could be crushed by a falling satellite. Now, I imagine the chances of this are very remote, but it's something some people might want to avoid chancing. Me... I think I'd actually like to see that! :D

You need to use the most expensive telescope, and you have to stargaze at night. You also have to not want to get abducted. While the "reported" chance is a whopping 5%, or 1 in 20, this is blatantly untrue, since it would happen constantly if it were that high: Any D&D player can tell you that not a single session with any real combat goes by without somebody rolling a 1.

Instead, it's somewhat more sadorandom: The game is programmed to detect when you are actually actively attempting to be abducted, and then thwart you by reducing the odds significantly. Hence why Sims can often spend their entire adult lives trying to be abducted, and fail. Them aliens are tricksy devils.

    Inverse series of the sum...

    It's inverse quantum theory.

By wanting to acknowledge alien abduction you make their sum or existance probability exactly zero.

The more adverse you are to wanting to recognize alien abduction the greater the curve that they actually exist. Mortal fear (a total aversion) of this act makes the possibility right around 50% (like that famous cat, it'll be 50-50 until they show up or don't).

On a side note, I summed up all Existentialism as a sum of all series equation, much to the amusement of my philosophy teacher. :p I need help.

Gah, now HERE is a sucky scenario.
One of my favourite sims die in the pool, and for some reason I can't beg the grim reaper for mercy. Right after, another sim gets crushed by a satelite. Her brother save her from the grim reaper, and the sattelite is still there as a garden ornament. VERY cool... except that I couldn't save the game, since the other sim just died. No way I'm gonna trade my little Sheena for a garden ornament, no matter how cool it is.

(And of course, I was unable to replicate the scenario. The same sim was sitting watching the clouds in the same spot the same time - the whole day in fact - but no sattelite.)

Are you talking about ingame aspirations and fears here? None of my sims have ever had alien abduction as a aspiration or fear. Or are you talking about behaviour patterns that I the player make them do to maximize the chance of abduction? I have my little sim stargazing every night.

I don't understand how this works either. I played the Curious brothers for some time. They always had aspirations or fears of being abducted or meeting aliens. On the night Vidcund was abducted he had an aspiration of "meeting aliens". His two brothers had the aspiration "Vidcund meets aliens". I was pretty excited that I was going to fulfill such high point aspirations in one fell swoop. Vidcund was finally dropped off, pregnant, but none of the aspirations rolled over. So evidently being beamed up, impregnated and returned to earth doesn't entail meeting an alien! lol I loved playing with these brothers but I hate the rest of the senario so I made my own neighborhood with every stereotypical individual, group, or family I could think of from old tv shows, sci-fi movies, books, etc. I replicated the Curious brothers as closely as possible. I've been waiting for Deva's alien skin to add the alien element. Everyone in this neighborhood stargazes nightly. No one has seen a spaceship in my neighborhood. No one seems to have an aspiration to meet or fear of abduction by aliens. I'm a little frustrated. Everyone I took such pains to build will grow old and die before realizing my dream at this rate. I don't understand why EA made it so hard. Surely they knew this would be popular. They should have made abduction ("stargaze" or "look for U.F.O.'s") an option on the telescope. (The fallen satelite would look perfect in my neighborhood..I guess they will have to man those telescopes 24/7 now! lol) If JMP is right, would checking telescope on a random basis rather than nightly improve my chances?

I'm more interested in what mysterious property causes the Curious brothers to be abducted constantly. Is it some sort of bit set in their character files, or a property of their lot? Is it their names? Does this "abduct me" property persist if they're exported or moved?

Now, this is a good question! Or questions... I hope you've got some plan or other to figure it out, right??

I read on another site that Vidcund is programmed to be abducted the first night he stargazes. It's certainly obvious that these brothers are uniquely tweaked. I think it unfair that we aren't given this option. Perhaps there is a cheat that unlocks this though. If so, I hope someone finds it soon.

Rather than cursing the unique unfairness of it all, I've been poking around with SimPE and exportation, trying to find out firstly, whether the Curious brothers retain their propensity towards multiple abduction after being packaged/moved, and if not, what changed to remove this.

I found it ridiculous that Curious brother 1 gave birth, and right afterward, Curious brother 2 got abducted and impregnated. What the hell am I supposed to do w/ TWO alien cousins? -_-' Hell, maybe even more when I hear y'all talking about twins and quads :p

Well, one thing you can do is to use them to seed the neighborhood with aliens. If they get taken away by social services and subsequently adopted, they'll be able to breed. Creepy, huh?

All this talk of aliens...so many new things that I am unaware of. Getting impregnated after an abduction?! Maxis...you have saved all of man kind.

You could package them up and use them to "seed" the other neighbourhoods too! Why should strangetown be the only one having all the fun. :D

    Cass. :cheeky:

P.S. Don't forget they can breed with the 'Smith' family.

Heh...maybe this alien thing isn't so bad afterall...I moved that Curious family into my custom neighborhood...that consists of FF characters and Inuyasha characters so far...so...yeah...this is gonna get a little bit interesting. ;) :D

Do they still keep getting abducted, or did that cease the moment they moved?

It took me only half a night for my sim to get abducted by aliens.
I used the expensive teleskope and it was at about 3 a.m.
The sim had already a high logic skill due to chess playing.
btw I got alien twins

I want aliens too... Is the chance higher with high logic-skills?
