Backgrounds in lots I have seen in photos from story threads. photos of a lot and in the background it has like mountains or trees or a desert. Is this an option i can change because it doesnt do that on my sims?
Take a look at the first few posts in this thread: http://forums.worldsims.net/showthread.php?t=7376. If you have the Night Life expansion you will be able to seem more of the neighborhood around the lot you are visiting although how much you see will depend on you graphics card and your game settings. I have found that the mountains that are visible in the neighborhood screen are not visible when I'm visiting a sim's lot no matter what I do. I did find, however, that the big rocks which are available for placment in your neighborhood can look like mountains if you set them down close to the lot and view them from within the lot (assuming you have the NL expansion.) Some of the trees and other things, like billboards, lampposts, stop signs, etc., work OK, too, although not quite as well. At least with my graphics. One point--a neighborhood loaded with all these interesting decorations slows down the computer.
Yes, but it looks soooo cool. My trees and signs are blurry, though. I'm hoping that with my new video card they'll look spiffier.
Oh, mine are very blurry too, like ghost houses in a mist. I thought it was like that on everyone's computer. (mutter frutter mutter ). There's hope for me yet, though. Hubby got a game he's become addicted to for Christmas, Call of Duty 2. Our computer struggles with it the same way it struggles with TS2. So, he's chatting his brother up about putting together a new computer with a bigger video card, better motherboard, and more RAM. Yay!! Now, if we can just come up with the $$$. That's what killed our last big scheme, to buy a new computer.
I'm not sure that they're not. But as I have the minimum right now, video-card wise, I can only assume things will improve. At least I hope they will. Otherwise, what am I spending the money for?
Strangely, the big rocks I put in around my castle lot (I,Sim) look pretty clear when I'm in the lot. But other things don't. Like with Kristal's game, neighborhood houses are always blurry which is why I did not put any of them near the castle. I'm not sure how good we should expect the view of the neighborhood to be. Is there someone around here with a top-of-the-line video card who can post a good picture (with the best camera settings) for us to compare our views with? I'd hate to run out and spend time and money on video graphics for only a slight improvement (or no improvement) in my view of the neighbor's house. Am I making sense here? Later tonight when I get home from work I'll take a picture in the Maxis made Verona neighborhood (which I haven't changed any) and post it here, for comparison purposes, in case anyone else is as curious about this as I am.
I took a couple of pictures from the Capp house while in Veronaville. I set the view of the distance and the fade both to the maximum. I'm just curious if anyone can see the neighboring houses clearly. I look at them and feel like I need glasses. The first picture actually shows the Capp house which is very clear, compared to it's neighbor. Actually, to my surprise, the neighboring houses and lots looked better in Veronaville than in my main Baltimore neighborhood. Less gloomy. Could be the bright color of the houses.
Hummm. Well, since ya asked me all nice and all. . . (These are pictures of events like weddings and dates and such. But, you can see the neighborhood in the background anyway.)
It's the same with me. Everything looks blurry. And I love that layered pink dress that the red-haired sim in the last picture is wearing. I'm not sure if its pink on the website, but the mesh is from All About Style, right?
Yeah, I almost forgot the reason I asked to see the pictures when I saw that red/pink dress. Very nice. Your neighborhood looks like mine. Does anyone see it better than that? Like you, I thought that what I had was 'normal.' Especially as, before NL, there was nothing at all.
Hmm, I'm sure mine looked better than that. Not perfect but not that bad. When I get my game working again I'll post some pics.
Hope you get it working soon, and I would REALLY like to see the pictures, even if you have to start a new thread because this one has faded into the distant past.
I guess I'm not complaining. Slightly blurry neighborhoods are better than the empty grey vistas we used to see. Besides, I'm not sure some of the trees and things would look very good if the image was more crisp -- might look like paper cutouts. Glad to know that I'm seeing what everyone else sees. Oh, Hi there, Kristal! I was reacting to the Flame and posted at the same time as you did.
Hi there! I think that you, me, and Mirelly are all three active and responding to each other this morning. LOL
