Bug - Can't check my mail! I can't check my mail in sims. that is to say that the postbox is no longer an option to get bills, doesn't highlight which means I can't pay my bills so someone keeps coming to take my stuff What do I do? IT's really pissing me off! Oh, and I haven't used any cheats or expansion packs. Is this just a bug in the game? What can I do to make it go away?
I guess you could call it a bug, I'm afraid. The game uses invisible markers to reserve space for certain actions. Mail delivery is one of them. If a mail delivery got somehow prevented the invisible marker that is waiting for the mailman to use is sort of stuck there forever. It shouldn't be, but it is. There are many potential ways of fixing the problem but few are guaranteed to work. First make sure you have the latest patch for your game. Go to http://thesims2.ea.com/update/?pid=Help_patches If you are willing to try them there are a number of hacks or mods that will save you having to move your sims to a new house ... which is the only sure way to fix the problem. But like I said there are various little hacks that may also solve the problem. Post again and say if you need more advice.
brilliant, thank you. I'm downloading the patch now so we'll see if it makes any difference. btw, the bug seems to happen to all sims (i.e. the MAxis ones too) not just the ones I've created.
That's probably because it tends to be "Lot" related not "Sim" related. It can occur because of lot corruption, moving the "marker" or other bug related problems, so it can happen even with Maxis made houses.
I would like to know where these hacks can be found. I got my servo to get the mail and it didn't. The get mail window apears but the sim just stands there, then the window disapears. This only started to happen when I got my servo to get the mail. Now no one can get the mail. And the repo man calls everyday. This is with OFB. Hope you can help Mirelly. regards moon.
