Can't move or delete chairs. I have 2 chairs in my house (1 living chair and 1 couch) that can't be selected in buy mode. I want to delete them but I can't. Whenever I try to select them it says that the object is in use, but no one in the house is trying to sit in them. Also, if I do try to get someone to sit in it, they can't. Has anyone else had this problem and if yes, can it be fixed?
Have you tried move_objects on? Enter this cheat and you should be able to delete them. Remember to turn move_objects off when finished though.
Yep. Alliecat is correct. The problem is caused, most often, by a visiting sim who starts out planning to sit in the chair and who then gets blocked or stopped in some way. The chair then retains an invisible token that marks it as "in use". This is a bug that is especially prevalent on University lots such as dorms where the high percentage of autonomous NPC's make interrupted object interaction errors not just more likely but irritatingly common. Sooner or later all the chairs in a dorm's refectory will be become unusable :(
what I'm confused about is...why can't you select them in buy mode? If they are in your game you should be able to buy them again. Try going to buy mode and then clicking on the eyedropper tool. Then click on the chair and see if it comes up with a match. It should be there somewhere.
LOL shana. If something is in use it may not be moved, let alone be deleted in buy or build mode. That's what the moveobjects cheat is for.
My bad, I read that wrong. I thought they also meant they couldn't buy it in buy mode either. Oh well, I use moveobjects cheat all the time, I know about that one.
For real? There are chairs in my house, too, that we never sit in. Sometimes I wish there was a moveObjects cheat in RL. Click and delete. The dirty laundry is just gone! Then kaching and I've got 5 new outfits.
Cursed chairs? In RL or Sims? *Looks around wildly on the lookout for any suspicious looking chairs.* This computer chair wasn't red before... it was black...
