    children

i know the manual says that twins is the most children you can have at once. is this true or is there some way to have more at one time, cheatwise or not?

Last autumn when the game came out there were reports of people getting quads. This was variously felt to be a glitch or a bug as there is no evidnece that maxis intended larger broods than twins. I've never had more thant wins and frankly I wouldn't want the hassle ... twins are bad enough!

I've never ever had same sex twins though. I've only ever got one pair of twins and i've been playing since last september. I don't want a hack....but still....still hoping for those twins.

With my VERY first family after I FIRST got the game, my very first child was twins!! They ended up being taken away by social service, but that's mainly because I was brand new to the game. I'm sure it'd be easier now that I'm used to it. I read in the manual that triplets are very rare, and I've heard somewhere someone's had quads, but that may just happen with aliens. Twins are quite a hassle though, especially when they are toddlers!!

The secret of twins is this. As soon as you get the notice that their birthday is one day away, buy a birthday cake and bring one of the babies to it. As soon as the baby becomes a toddler pump it full of smart milk and teach it to walk, talk and potty train him only then is it advisable to "bring on" the other one

PS I am still trying to achieve a learn to walk, talk and use potty on the same bottlefull of smart milk. I still think it can be done, but I usually chicken out and have to cancel the teach to talk for potty training cos the bladder need looks too urgent and it's a dad-ratted waste of good poop to see it all dumped into a diaper when the baby is still glowing nicely ... OK OK I know. I'm a control freak. :(

Mirelly, I waited until my toddler had almost red bladder, in the orange stage right next to the end, made her smart milk, and she pottytrained in one sitting because her bladder was so low. Then immediatly afterwards, I taught her how to talk. I started on walking, but it wore off. I ALMOST had it though!!

LOL FFL. Me too. My preferred trick is to take baby to the birthday cake immediately after a nappy change, at which moment. baby should be hungry and fully energised if being looked after according to my super-nanny principles

Then administer the smart milk teach to walk, then talk and hopefully by then the bladder is desperate enough to complete the potty training. Unfortunately it's rarely red enough, either that or the smart glow fades too quick or else the evil l'il monster has kept some poop in reserve and is going critical halfway thru the learn to talk. Either way the elusive Grand-Slam remain just tantalizingly outa my grasp. Dang it! ;)

PS I always teach walk before talk. The kid will keep learning to talk until he fals asleep but walking takes energy and if he get too weary he'll sit down and grouch and you'll cry when you see him laying there snoozing away valuable blue glow. :p

There's really no point in worrying about the elusive "grand slam" of toddler skill training, or the blue glow. Firstly, you should always feed the toddler nothing but smart milk, because smart milk, in addition to providing faster toddler skill gain, ALSO provides faster conventional skill gain when they're using the toys. Nuke 'em till they glow! Secondly, the actual skill boost can persist after the blue glow itself has subsided. This is the source of the rumor of "smart milk makes children smart if they're fed it as a toddler". In the same way stuck emitters can cause sims to leak, smoke, or bubble, the smart milk can, on rare occasions, become stuck as well. This isn't actually supposed to happen and is a bug, but hey, the more you nuke 'em, the more likely it may happen.

I may be stupid, but I really don't see any reason why I should worry much about potty training the toddlers or learning the toddlers to walk or talk. Of course they gain some aspiration points by learning those skills as toddlers, but it makes no difference to whether they can walk, talk or use the toilet when they become children.

I have never tried the smart milk, and I only make the parents learn the toddlers the skills that they have the time and energy for.

    Best regards,
    Boerge

I have used the smart milk the on the second time around and it makes it so much easier to teach the walk/talk/potty train skills. Especially if the parent doing it is wearing the thinking cap. As you say it helps gain aspiration points (and usually aspiration points for the parent teaching) which IMHO is all the better.

Well, supposedly if you keep their wants fulfilled, they will have high aspiration points and live longer. Also, the more points you build up, the faster your sims can have to good apiration rewards like the love tub and the Energizer.
