Community Lots When my character leaves home and goes to a community lot, he likes to spend a lot of time there. Soon as time passes he gets tired and comes home. Unfortunately the game resets it back to the time he left! Does anybody know if maxis have updated this so that the time he leaves the community lots to come home is actually the time he arrives rather than it being reset to the time of his departure. the original idea by maxis seems a bit silly to me as the character has been out all night or day and is dead knackered yet only a minute or so has passed at home! CRAZY! :(
Time doesn't really pass at home when your Sim is at the community lot. That's the way the game works. Occasionally I've had it pass a little, such as 15 minutes to 2 hours, but generally they come home moments after they left. Sort of like a time warp thing.
Further to Kat's answer ... I hoped that we would see it work like this: A sim goes to a community lot and we the player follow him there. When he is tired we get him to come home and ... the home lot reloads and we continue playing it with whatever other sims are there with the absent sim (the one at the lot) shown as away like sims at work or school until the time arrives that our absent sim decided to come home ... Needless to say, my hope was not rewarded by the Maxoids ... Maybe in a future EP ... or even maybe the ever excellent afficionado of rocket propelled grenades and chain guns and other over-the-top ordnance, the old Flying Fish Systems maestro himself, J.M. Pescado will come up with a game mod ...
I dunno I like it like that. I mean I go to a lot get my sim to make lots of friends and be home in time for work. I wish somtimes it would work the other way so you don't need to be around while your sim is pregnant etc. Just get her in green then leave she'll still be green when have baby.
If you don't mind the pregnancy itself, the multipainting can help with keeping her green and her aspirations platinum.
The big problem with not having the time reset when you return from a community lot is that any Sims you left behind would then lose that time. You wouldn't have been able to direct them in anything. Even assuming the game freezes them at whatever they're doing, you would still lose that amount of time with them. I really don't often take multiple Sims out of my households to community lots at once. I am far more likely to invite Sims from other homes to go out with my Sims than I am to have John and Jane Doe Sim go out together. After all, if I wanted John and Jane Doe to interact, I might as well have left them at home.
Which was why I came up with my suggestion (see above). I think I'll suggest it as a serious game mod ...
Sorry, Mirelly, I read through your post after midnight last night with pink-eye to boot, so I obviously missed some crucial info there. You're right, that would be a good fix since we essentially have to play all the time the sim spends at the community lot twice anyhow. Why should we have to play it twice with that particular sim?
Perhaps, but think of it this way. Your kid sim say Joe. You also have say a parent sim Joan....You set your kid/teen sim to do their homework and take nthe community sim to a lot. You come back that kid sim has STILL just started their homework and has lost 4-6 hours of the dsy! which gives less time to eat and have fun or socialize for that day.
I know this is off topic but.... Oh Man, I have had pink-eye before. I used to work in a daycare and ended up with it in both eyes. It's aweful!!! I sure hope you feel better soon!!!!
Yeah, I work one-on-one with kids who have learning disabilities. The job involves lots of back and forth work with manipulatives. So I guess this week my homework was pink-eye. Really, it wasn't too much worse than when I have an allergic eye reaction to one of my cats. The only diff was no swelling, and the red refused to go away. Thanks for the concern.
Oh no!!! Another one. My family insist that I am guilty of extreme exaggeration but I can tell when a cat has slept on my bed by the pink-eye I have the next day. And yeah I have cat (her name is Mirelly Lyra Zeelashishthra ... well, as a name it was going begging and someone had to have it; someone with a lot of personality and -- preferably -- a comedy walk. I found a tuxedo cat in a barn-yard with TWO comedy walks and more personality than Will Smith ) and, worse, she sleeps on my bed ... I guess this explains a lot My eyes are most often more pink than a Calpol flavored cotton candy made especially for a stereo-typical Malibi Stacey with a penchant for the FF0000 end of the color wheel.
I just got over pink eye. I somehow got it in my contact lens! The only time I'd have it is when I wore the contact. I take it out, it heals up overnight. So for now I am wearing my glasses. I want to go back to the DR. and try those new breathable contacts that are approved by the FDA to be slept it. Because I think that's how I got Pink Eye in my contacts in the 1st place: Sleeping in them. But, hey, it's so hard to get up in the middle of the night with a baby and not be able to see!!!
Mirelly, that's not a *NEW* idea, I ranted about that ages ago. It's probably buried in some forum somewhere.
