Confusion on Sys. Requirements... I know a lot of posts have been made about this, but I am really quite clueless when it comes to figuring it out. I'm wondering if anyone has something similar to this and if Sims2 can run ok... Anyway, here are my system specs: System Manufacturer: Dell Computer Corporation System Model: Inspiron 8200 BIOS: Phoenix ROM BIOS PLUS Version 1.10 A03 Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 Mobile CPU 1.60GHz Memory: 256MB RAM Card name: Dell 8200 Manufacturer: NVIDIA Chip type: GeForce2 Go DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC Display Memory: 32.0 MB What do you guys think? Do I have to wait for a new computer? Thank you so much for any help.
Well, I went ahead and took the chance of buying Sims2 and all I have to say is WHOA! So far this game runs very nicely on my computer (see my system specs above ^). It took about 25 minutes to install, takes about 30 seconds to startup. I just made sure to clean, defrag, update drivers, and close background tasks... Anyway, I am very pleased. This games rocks.
I think so far it should work great... but if you want to enjoy more of the better graphics you should get your new computer... (By the way do you think you can give me reputation points for helping you out?)
You meet the minimum specs for the game. I take it that this is a laptop (from the "go" on the graphics card.) So, you can't really upgrade it, but I don't believe you need to actually buy a new one quite yet.
yeah, dell inspirons are laptops. if the game runs to your satisfaction, don't worry about buying a new one just for sims2, but if you really want more performance and higher graphics, go for it. nice job in closing background tasks also. I was helping a friend with her SLOW computer (has a celeron processor with 128 MB of RAM, yeah I know) and just closing background tasks helped speed it up considerably.
Yeppir, I'm the last person to say that I know much about computers but I did learn that if you don't close background tasks you'll slow the best machine down really quickly. I found that out when I tried to run Simply Accounting on my machine and the program wouldn't load. Finally, I was told how to clean a bunch of junk out of my start-up section...what got me was all the programs that put themselves in there and I hadn't known it...but once I had taken them off of the start up Simply ran perfectly. I am hoping that this will help me with TS2...
