    Just installed today. Installed okay but when I run application it crashes right after the very first screen (splash). Tried everything I have read up on and no luck. Tried running in XP Service Pack 2 mode but no luck. I bought this a long time ago. It ran pretty good on my then laptop so it shouldn't be the cd itself.

    What is the proper OS you have? I know you said Vista, but what? Home Premium 32 bit, Home Professional 32 bit, etc... From your Chipset page, it looks like your drivers are out of date.

    I knew I would forget something it's Home Premium 32bit.
    I had downloaded the most recent update for the chipset and installed it (says it's version is 15.7.3). Then restarted the laptop. Checked device manager and it says version 7.14.10 so I don't know what is going on there.

    Strange...hmmm this may be one that I cannot solve. Have you also tried installing DirectX 9.0c as well? Even though you have 10, it may not like it (I'm assuming that, of course)

    That's what I was thinking of doing because it always seems that whatever the most recent version of directx is, is really crappy at first. But one question, how do i do that?

    Nope, I am just going to take this as a sign that I need not get addicted to sims again.

    What about reinstalling? It's a shame...I cannot figure out what is causing this issue... I doubt it would be related to sound, could it?

    Tried reinstalling 2x. Sound card seems ok and is up to date. On and about the video card, this is what the driver install said:
    * Driver Revision: PV 15.7
    * Package: 43430
    * Graphics: 7.14.10.1409
    and so that is where the difference in #'s come up
