    Crash..

Ok...Ive just recently installed the Sims 2 on my computer. and when I put the cd in to play it..the splash screen comes up..(the all white screen that says The Sims 2 while loading the game) and after that screen closes..the game is suppose to play..well I can hear the music..like the "E A GAMES...challenge everything"...and then I hear like dance music..but I see no Sims game. On my task bar..there is the sims program running..but if I try click on it the game freezes..and then a notice pops up telling me the progam has crashed and will be terminated...so I downloaded the newest patch on TheSims.com...and still does the same thing.. So I checked the specs and I have an intel extreme graphics card 82845, and upgraded the video card on intel.com. I have 512 mb of ram. I have 33.2 GBs of memory. I dont know whatelse I need..but the point is..Im pretty sure my computer is good enough to play it. but it keeps pulling this crap..can anyone please help me out, if you need to know anything else about the computer to further help you, help me out..Id be more than happy to..I JUST WANNA PLAY IT!! haha..thanks!

We need the information that's in this thread to help you.
Also that 33.2GBs of memory is actually hard drive space not actual memory (RAM).

Is there any details about the crash available? Like what the error is exactly?

Nope, like I said Ill put the cd in..and the splash screen will come up, and load like its gonna play. And then the program will actually open like it should. Just its like off my view screen..and then If I try to move it or click on my desktop, it freezes and then a pop up comes up and says "This program has crashed, and will be terminated" I believe, or something close to that..and actually if I move the mouse all the way to the right like past the viewing part, click and drag my mouse back into viewing..its not the normal windows mouse, its like a blue-ish mouse, Im guessing that mouse used in the game..but there is not information giving when it crashes, it just says it crashed, and will be terminated..

    Have you done the following:
    1. Terminated all other applications (including internet connections and anti-virus programs
    2. Checked you have the latest drivers for your display adapter (graphics) see http://forums.worldsims.org/showthread.php?t=2874

Ok Ive done what its said many times..Ive gone to intels website and downloaded my update for my graphics card..Ive atl+ctrl+delt -ed everything I possible could instead of taskman.exe and explorer.exe...I met all of the requirments, Ive downloaded the update for the sims, Ive even called sims support technicians and they told me It should be running and they just give me links to there **** web site and do absolutly nothing to help my problem. Ive gone into my registry files, deleted everything and reinstalled, and nothing happens, Ive reformated my computer and still the same stuff happens, after I reformatted I downloade all of directx, upgraded my graphics controller, bla bla bla..and still My sims game will not show up on my screen correctly. Ive tried running it in a windows with and without sound, and it still just does the same thing, only this time it doesnt crash, the music continues to play while I have a window with a screen that is blue. If I minimize the screen and then maximize it again..then it just my desktop in the sims window..and I move it around..and nothing, just Sims music playing..anything else I can try?

Joshua dear ... look at my friendly little picture on the left ... <<<< that way <<< LOL

DON'T PANIC! Your actions describe a panic (running around in aimless circles).

When it ain't working the best thing to do is to go away and have a nice cup of tea (or beverage of your choice). You have described so much that I am no longer sure what your problem is. (Reads all of thread again ... oh yeah ... did you go thru:

Like wot I suggested 2/3 posts back? You haven't said so so I am assuming you haven't ... to busy doing the headless chicken I expect. I am not dissing you, just teasing. Take it easy, mate. OK?

I have gone to the web site you have posted, and it doesnt really tell me much, I have recently posted that I have updated my video card and downloaded the new patches, and I downloaded the new directx from Microsoft..so I doubt its corrupted. I called The Sims support and they even told my computer is more than enough to play this game. so I dont know. Ive even called my computer maker..Compaq...horrible computer and computer designers. and Ive just about giving up on technical support people..haha but I dont know Im just gonna give intel a call.. maybe my graphics card is screwed up..who knows..sorry..I was very frustrated..Ive giving this game like 3 or 4 days of fiddling around with it..and I cant get it to do anything. Im not a video game guy and this game just makes me not want to play games that much more haha
