Creature Editor Beta Test

A very interesting post in the Spore Gamespot Forums caught my eye just a few moments ago. It talks about how EA and Maxis should release a beta creature editor (or a different editor) around November time for us to play with whilst we wait. I thought this was a brilliant idea, but for more than just that reason. Here's what I said:

They released something early like that for the sims 2 didn't they?

 

Very good idea, good points made there, chris_damon. My bonkywop army need not only exist in a distant future reailty, it would seem. Besides, people are going to start getting twitchy and Spore-deprived by the April-at-the-earliest release date, they need something to keep them sane (as well as this forum). Oh, and... *brandishes 'welcome to Snooty Spore' banner*

I think you have a good idea, they might be able to see some kinks in the system before they ship. However since the game is basically one big creature editor (this seems to be the biggest thing about the game), I'm not sure they'd be willing to create a playable editor that people wouldn't have to pay for. Although it would be interesting if they would at least give a simplified version for some creature creation.

The gamer in me wants this, the anti-capitalist in me doesn't see it being likely however.

Sounds like how they released BodyShop for TS2... I hope they do do this!

 

Let's appeal to Will to put a BETA of their creature editor on this site NOW. Even if it's completely buggy and stuff - WE JUST WANT TO TRY IT!!!

And I say this site because then their site doesn't get flooded with people all downloading at once and making us wait

I think it's an absolutely wonderful idea, and not just because I suggested it myself on another forum. LOL. Spore has so many pre release fans, I think this would be a great idea not only to wet our vicious appetites, But to give us more content for our favorite sites and get more people interested in the game. (As if there isn't enough already!)

 

Hehe, making up a petition sheet right now... I agree, probably won't work... but fun anyways

Update: OK it's done, I will PM it to one person, they sign, PM it to the next person, who signs, and it goes on like that.

First off, welcome to the forums, hope you stay :smile: !

I think it's a decent idea. what gets me all for it is populating the server before the game is even released. The Sims 2 Body Shop was genius because many of the fansties started creating custom content early off, and It work amazingly because simmers had the option to donwload thousands of creations, if it will be as successful as Bodyshop, according to opinions, I'm all for it!! Well ,OF COURSE I'M FOR IT!

 

I would suggest using one of the online petition sites. That have running lists, that way you can just post a link and we can get faster signatures.
