Depressed Sim? So Tiberius Wyndham is a frosh at La Fiesta Tech, and he just completed his term paper and has all his bars in the green and he's a knowledge sim so his aspiration bar just barely eased out of platinum when this happened. He went into the bathroom and cried . . . like a baby . . . for no discernable reason. He didn't have any thought bubble over his head indicating any reason; he just stood there and blubbered like he was heart-broken. I don't get it. Upon further reflection, this is the same sim who always heaves great big sighs and stands there like he's dejected even when all other indicators show he should be in a great mood. He can fulfill his wants and still heave a great big sigh and stand there like he's upset or unhappy. Is it possible I have a naturally depressed sim on my hands? It's the only explanation I can think of for his behavior. Anybody else have a clue?
Eh, I've never seen THAT before. Maybe he's just destined to someday power a small city with his whining.
Gosh, I certainly don't know any people like THAT. =) I wasn't aware that Sims could be depressed.. Very odd. At any time have you changed his aspiration? Or did you play any of his other family members and someone died?
I haven't changed his aspiration, and while his father died prematurely (tends to happen when you infect yourself with three different diseases from your home germ machine), that was days ago. He even just initiated a successful flirtation with the dormie I created specifcally for that purpose. Maybe he leans toward homosexual? Maybe he's upset because his twin is in another dorm? Although his twin has no such trouble, and Tiberius never expresses a desire to see or speak to Taveon.
Hmm, I dunno. But I love the names! =) My only guess is that it could still be the death of the parent... As far as I know or have seen in my game, death is the only thing that makes people cry or sigh for no reason. Good luck with him, and if not, maybe they'll release some medication for him in the patch?
Did you check his memories and see if there was some other trauma that happened recently and maybe you missed it? They'll mope around for a long time if they pass out or have an accident.
Also ... is he a shy sim? Shy sims will hate the communal showers and public loos in a dorm ... poor wee dear. It must be killing him!
If he's shy, he sure is full of social aspirations, and he's made friends with all his dorm mates within his first semester of college with no trouble. It might be roaches. Someone did kick over the garbage can and cause an infestation before I caught it, but I took care of it quickly. And the dorm he's in has small, private type restrooms single toilet and shower affairs. He doesn't show any major disasters in his memory besides the death of his father, Shandon (husband's head, oops!), and that happened days ago. Shandon doesn't even appear on his relatioship bar anymore. I still say he's awful touchy if he got that upset over the roaches, and why go into the bathroom to cry about it? le sigh . He'll make life interesting if this personality persists.
What is is his personality profile. How many outgoing points? Less than 2 and he will be painfully shy, triggering aspiration fears of using public toilets etc.. Roaches are a fear for many sims, especially neat ones. Has he actually got a memory of roach infestation? Does he have high neatness points? The roach fear is not triggered unless they go stomping ..... If it ain't triggered there's no memory and with no memory there'll be no sobbing. Check out his memories and tell us what his last red one was. This isn't a mystery. Sims don't cry for no reason. Stat! :(
I had one with high outgoing points cry for hours last night because he had a bad party. But the memory was there, the little X'ed-out- balloon symbol was over his head, I mean, there was no question what had upset him.
