    Desktop

I have university and family fun stuff installed and it already takes it forever to load. I know that I am going to want to buy more EPs and SPs but I also know that my computer will not handle those. Therefore I am doing research and preparing to buy a new desktop. Here is my question:
Do I need a "Gaming" desktop in order to play the sims 2 and all expansion packs efficiently? I am not a hardcore gamer. As a matter of a fact I only play the sims 2. If I dont need a gaming desktop can someone please tell me what specifications I need on a regular desktop? Thanks!!!

You don't need a gaming desktop. In fact, you may find that you can even upgrade your current desktop to suit your needs. In the event that you do get a new computer...

If you're doing Intel Core Duo, something 2.16+ GHz should hold you well. Otherwise, get something 2.6GHz or above.

    In addition I personally recommend

    768MB+ RAM
ATI 9800 Pro or better (128 MB or better--these have gone down in price, a lot)
120 GB+ Hard Drive, as fast as you can get it.

Many would argue with me that the above is a pretty ordinary system. It is, I admit it.... but it will serve you fine for TS2.

    Hope that helps,
    -John
