    Do I need the patches?

I have a Mac G4 with OS X 10.3.9 and Sims 2 with Nightlife, University, and Open For Business installed.... do I need to run the patches?
I have some weird problems: When I resurrect someone, even if I pay full $$$, they come back married to everyone they ever knew, even family members and babies!
Also, to back up my Sims folder, before adding any custom content, do I simply copy the folder TheSims2 in users/myname/library/Application Support/The Sims2 ???
I really dont want to lose the neighborhood I have built so far, but I also want to try some custom content and am afraid it will crash my Sims, and lose everything! All help is appreciated!

To back up your neighborhoods, you should be copying the Sims 2 folder in your Documents folder - not your Library or Applications folder.

On my G4 PowerBook, the foleder is: Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Neighborhoods. I believe that if you back up the Neighborhods folder and the Downloads folder, you are god to go. I, however, am paranoid, so I just back up the entire Sims 2 folder!

Not sure about the problems you've had with resurrection, but as far as the patches go, I do not believe that you need the patches from EA Games/Maxis that most people on this forum refer to. I beleive those ar mostly for the Windows version. However, Aspyr has at least one patch for the Mac version, which you should probably install.
