    Downloading new objects

    Hi

I have been on to a few websites and tried to download some new objects (I have the Sims Open For Business and Seasons expansion packs and have made sure the items are compatible). I basically press the download button and it appear to create a file but I can't find out where the file is stored once it downloads and it's not in my Sims game so I don't know where it is. Is there more to downloading items than I thought? And if so, how do you do it and can anyone recommend a really good site?

    Thanks

    :knockedout:

These downloads are probably being stored to your desktop. In order to add them to your game, go to My Documents > EA Games > The Sims 2. There should be a folder in there called "Downloads." If there is, drag the files you download here. If not, make one, and then drag them! :)

Oh, and by the way... most of the content you download will be in a ZIP archive. Make sure you unzip the file before adding it to the downloads folder.

    Hope that helps!

See the downlad tutorial in the FAQs. If you still have problems please post again and tell us what you surf the web with (AOL, Inernet Explorer or Firefox) ... look at the top of the screen for the words: "Download new objects - WorldSims Forums - xxxxxxxx" ... that xxx is the browser software your computer uses to read web pages. Differedt browsers treat downloads differently. It's hard to tell you where to look without knowing what you're using.

Do you save your downloads? If you don't I strongly recomend that you make your very own file somewhere and call it Sims Downloads or whatever. Save your down loads there and vola! You now know where your downloads are being saved.

    Pretty neat huh :D ?

By default, Windows XP in conjunction with Internet Explorer will save downloaded files in:

    C:\Documents and Settings\User~Name\My Documents\My Downloads\

When downloads are uncompressed (unzipped) the reulcting files will have the filetype extension .package (eg 0b1a4bd80bc05ab85f8f77589030750f_0001.package)

The dot package on the ned is known as the filetype extension. It tell Windows what sort of file it is. If you look at the the file's properties you will see that Windows refers to it as Type = DBPF Package

Package files should be placed in the folder

    C:\Documents and Settings\User~Name\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads\

All this is in the FAQs of course.
