Extra, Extra! Ricky's a Babe! So, just for fun I sent 6 kids from the neighborhood to college. I just got tired of always seeing them as teenagers. And guess what? Dweeby little Ricky Cormier is CUTE. Ivy Copur and Sophie Miguel also age quite nicely. Meadow Thayer, not so much. Don't know why, I've never warmed up to her ... The other two boys came with NL so their names might be different in your game, but in mine they're Todd Chin and Todd Seavey. Todd Chin is super cute with the in-game dreadlocks. As a teen, he's the kid with the light brown flop of hair and glasses and the dayglo vest. Todd Seavey is also pretty nice-looking as an adult. He's a very dark skinned boy with messy hair, as a teenager. I know this stuff is terribly important. I wanted to see if the neighborhood would repopulate itself. Even if it doesn't, NL added a lot of new teens, so I'm not too worried about it. Plus, this way my college sims have built-in people to date, since they knew most of these people in highschool.
I sent most of the neighborhood teens to college, just to see what they'd look like. I think Ivy Copur is gorgeous. She graduated and married Randy London (I think he's the one) and her everyday outfit is a slinky dress. I'll have to hunt down a picture. I haven't visited their household for a week or so.
I've been thinking of doing the same thing. My pleasure sim has the LTW to have 50 first dates. So, I've had him chat to every female he's come into contact with and that has put him to around 40 contacts so far. He's been on about 13-15 dates. Now everywhere I go, I've already met all the ladies there. I should send a couple teens to college to age them so he can date them! Edited to say: I know not everyone is up on fulfulling all the LTW, I just wanted to see if there were that many females already in game without creating any others.
Ah, yes, it's tough being a pleasure sim. Lola has the same LTW, but me being a big meanie, she's had 3 first dates, and she's an elder. I decided to have get married instead, since that was all she ever thought about. She's pretty happy the way things are. I do have a sim with a LTW of 100 first dates. Needless to say, he's not gonna make permaplat. I'm not even sure it's attainable, even if he decided to date on both sides of the street ...
I don't mean to go off topic here, but 100 first dates! My goodness. If I ever see that one, I'm not going to even try. My sim, Reeve, wants to ask someone on a date every want-roll. Back on topic - kind of . . . I wish there was a way, other than Sim PE, to age some of the school children. I'm so sick of the same freakin' children coming home with children generations later. They drive me crazy!!
Yes, that would be nice, wouldn't it? I pretend that the families don't have a lot of imagination and name their kids the same thing every generation. Otherwise, it's just too weird to me that Orlando Centowski, who is engaged to Xander Nova, would be the same Orlando Centowski who dated his aunt when she was in highschool. Let's do the time warp again ... OK, even weirder, Mr. 100 first dates is a knowledge sim. I could change his LTW, but as I'm not big on the permaplat I don't feel any pressing need to do so. He's a vampire anyway, so a career LTW wouldn't be any more attainable, as I don't let my vampires have normal jobs. Oh, he might take a night job, but as soon as he got promoted he'd have to quit. It might be interesting to try to get him to max out all skills, and then try for Mad Scientist. That's a nighttime job, after all. But since I'm pretending that he's several centuries old I'm just going to cheat and give him a lot of money when he graduates, and pretend it was waiting for him in a vault ... Sorry. Completely off topic, I know.
I think it would be cool if the townie kids were adoptable. When you adopt a child, there should be a window that pops up that lists all the townie kids, and you get to pick the one you want. You should also get the option to choose a "randomly made" child like now, if you're into surprises.
In one of my old neighborhoods I actually did something about that. I created a women who opened up a "children's home". Then I used the boolprop cheat to get the tombstone of L&D. I went to the community lots, met all the NPC children of the neighborhood, made friends with them, invited them back to my orphanage, and added them to the family. The only weird thing is that even when they are added to the family, they don't age, so you have to use the boolprop cheat again to age them to teen status. I actually enjoyed playing that lot, I had them all dressed in the red school uniforms for the girls, and little suits for the boys. Once I changed them all over to teens I made a dorm situation for them, they each got their own room, and I used the doors you could assign. (I then decided it was a home for runnaway teens) They had a bathroom they all shared, and the woman who owned the place had her own little house on the lot. Oh...and in case you're wondering, the game never repopulated any more NPC children, and they all retained their own last names when they moved in. BTW, Marsha Brunig (spelling) is actually pretty cute as a teen...hehe, she became a popularity sim...she was always calling everyone anyway, might as well, right?
I did something similar, and put favorite NPCs and townies in the same house, but I accidently put too many in, and couldn't see the icons/thumbnails of everyone, and ended up restoring the entire neighborhood (there were several other factor involved, but this is still not recomended.) I couldn't achieve the woo-hoo an NPC b/c doing this caused them to lose their status as NPCs, and just caused the game to regenerate some new NPCs. This is useful for townies, though. This thread has made me REALLY want Uni, though, so I can see what my favorite townies will look like!
