    Father's eye color passed down?

Do all sim babies born in game take on the father's eye color?

I've had babies born with their mom's eye color or their dad's eye color. It depends on the genetics of the parents.

You will find that sims genetics works the same basic way as it does in the real world. You never quite know what you're gonna get .....

Except when you've got custom stuff for eyes and skin. I don't know about hair. But the custom eyes and skin seem always to be passed down to the child. Seeing some of those custom eyes in an infant can be unnerving. The skins don't blend, though. Makes sense, I suppose. How could you program in advance for the blending of custom skin.

I had one very lightskinned parent married to a very darkskinned parent and the baby inherited the light skin. I've been meaning to go back to that family and see what happens with the next baby but I've been distracted with other families. Like the eyes, the custom skins looked so real it gave me goose bumps to look at those sims. The man was positively hirsute. I got these skins from Helaene and I did not give these sims a medical examination so don't bother asking me for more details because I don't have the answers.

I'm not sure the blending of the in-game skins works any better. If you look at my story thread, Lola has skin tone 3, Tyson has skin tone 4. So they marry and have Zaire (London doesn't count, she's adopted). Zaire has skin tone 3. OK, so far, so logical. I know there's not an in-between so the game picks one.

But now, Zaire marries Castor Nova, who as far as I can tell is a white boy, or skin tone 1. So, shouldn't their children all be skin tone 2? Nope. Xena and Xanthe are 3s, the boys are 2, and Ariel is a 1.

So I went from dark to light in two generations. No big deal, just kind of strange.

I guess there are some other genes floating around in that pool somewhere.

But to answer the eye color question, Zaire has green eyes, Castor has blue. Three of their children are green-eyed and two are blue-eyed.

But here's a weird one: London has brown eyes and Spike has light blue. Their son, Apollo, has dark blue eyes.

    So, explain that one.

    Are Spike's eyes custom?

My sim baby between Avri (green eyes, red hair, med-dark skin tone) and Angel (grey eyes, black hair, dark skin tone) came out with red hair, grey eyes, med-dark skin tone. I was surprised he had Avri's hair and skin tone but her eyes. He is really cute!

Yes, they mix and match that way sometimes. Post pictures! I'd like to see ...

No, Spike has in-game eyes, as does London.

    Very strange.

I had two sims, one very dark, one very light, with default skintones. Their children both had medium skintones. Their daughter is one of my prettiest in-born sims I've ever had! :)

I think that the eye color domanince is for custom eyes. If neither sim has custom eyes, then then it becomes a random choice. Unfortunatly, according to JMP, this can lead to genetic "twins" sometimes, because the game will generate the same genetic set-ups for babies over, if you have saved and exited the game between babies. In other words, say your couple has a baby. You exit the game for the night. Next time you play, you return to that family, and they have another baby. The baby is genetically identical to it's older sibling.

JMP suggests that if you plan on having siblings, roll a random sim upon start up. This causes the game to re-set itself and make a sim-child using some of the parents different genetics.

Hummm. Just thought of something as I typed. I wonder if this also works for boy or girl babies??

I just found out about the "identical" baby thing. I had my second sim born-in-game come out looking like the first one, even though they have different parents. They are both still children, so I hope as they grow they will look more differently. Then the 3rd child born in game (born right after the 2nd with the same parents) has the same personality spread as his sibling. However, with him I rolled a sim in CAS hoping that would make me have a girl (it didn't work). So now, he looks slightly like his older brother but their is some difference. Again, hopefully as they grow the difference will be more evident.

I'm also finding that all of my born-in-game babies are coming out with the same astrological sign (although slightly different personality spread) and they are all males. Why is this?

When I do the roll thing in CAS do I have to completely make up a personality and bring that person to the bin and then delete them or can I just roll a sim and then cancel out of CAS?

SBW, I will try to post a pic later, I didn't get a good one though as I was tired at the time.

I have definitely noticed similar, though not identical, personalities in my sims born to the same family, but I think that's cool, and logical. For example, all of the Nova kids are really nice, and with the exception of Xena, a bit on the shy side, though Xander for some reason never acts it. (Oldest child syndrome? :D)

Their parents are nice, and their mom is shy. So it makes sense.

Apollo, on the other hand, is very outgoing and active, which also makes sense because both of his parents are that way.

The apple doesn't fall far from the sim tree.

In my legacy family, the sim who started the legacy had custom eyes, which I thought would pass down, because custom eyes are supposed to be dominant. His son got the custom eyes, but his grandkids have grey and dark blue eyes. I guess they're a good family to look at for genetics. Guy with custom eyes has kids with grey-eyed lady. Son has custom eyes and has kids with a dark blue-eyed sim. Their kids have grey and dark blue eyes. :)

In my Skold family Kiki went off to college with (and then married) Ricky Cormier. Their first child was darksome like Ricky. That was Lily. The nest one out the oven was Ricky Jr who was as a pale as his momma. A little while passed and the happy couple were content that their family was complete as was ... except that Kiki kept rolling a want to invite Wesley over when Ricky was at work  More by luck than anything Ricky got Kiki pregnant and Choolie arrive, as dark as her older sister. Things would've been OK if Kiki hadn't continued to entertain Wesley (under her parents' very eyes, for heaven's sakes ... they had wondered why she suggested they took a nap mornings out by the pool ....)

Skold baby #4, Staffin, is definitely missing a whole pile of Cormier genetic material ...

As a stereotypically insecure icon of the movie industry Ricky Cormier succombed to the only thing he knew about. He got a new nose and collagen injections for his lips ... yeah ... that really used to be Ricky Cormier.

Actually I am utterly bad at this marlarkey. I can cope with cuckolded husbands and cheating wives but it just breaks me up to see how the poor (male) saps celebrate the birth of a baby that they know isn't theirs. Please Maxoid dudes give us a break when you build TS3 :)

    Okay, Pics,
    - 1st is one of my sims (Angel).
    - 2nd is Avri Lanchild (who everyone already knows though different name in their game)
You can't tell from the pics but Angel is actually darker then Avri
    - 3rd is their baby. You can tell by the color of his eyebrows that he is going to have red/brown hair like his father.

That is one pretty family. Makes me miss Tyson as a young man. He was truly handsome. Sigh. He's nice looking as an elder, too, of course, but there's nothing quite like youth.

I can tell already I'm going to have a hard time letting sims die in my current neighborhood. Funny how attached we become ...

Why would you inject something into your LIPS? Wouldn't that make your lips huge and bloated? That's disgusting. Why would you need to inject anything into your lips to make them fat, anyway? I can give you a fat lip without expensive surgery with just my fist. And what was wrong with his nose? Did the filters give out? You realize what happens to people who replace their nose with an artificial nose, right? You end up with a nose that will barely stay attached to your face because, it's, well, not a real nose, and will fall off at the most inopportune times, leaving a big HOLE IN YOUR FACE, like a certain somebody.

I kind of prefer Ricky the way he is in my game, too ... Guess we know how Pescado feels about plastic surgery, hmmmm?
