Free Ipods? Okay, so there's been a string of these "Free Ipod" banners circulating. Heck we're cycling their banner ads on our site as well. But my honest question is do these sites like "FreeIpods.com" really work or are they merely a scam in your opinion? Post your thoughts
I've never seen the site at all. However, I can tell you that on the internet, I try to be cautious about who I give my personal information to. Furthermore, no matter how much I trust a person, I have yet to give out a mailing address. I personally wouldn't take the chance, but this is just my point of view.
I have seen that one a lot. As tempting as it is (free stuff can be so hard to refuse) I don't give out the information unless I know it will work, such as a purchase from a store. I would be interested in if it works though hehe
I have been burnt before by giving out my email addresses to such sites and so I don't click on any ads. That is not to say, however that I don't look at them as a banner on a site so in a way the advertising gets through, just not in the way that it was intended to. If YOU (josh) were to announce a Worldsims competition on the site to win a free iPod, however, I would just have to give it a go, but not through a linked company please.
Notice how the form has 'No PO BOXes'? Perhaps they're trying to get your address for targeted advertising or soemthing. Either way, I've been presented with that form twice, and havent accepted once. There's nothing free in this world. Except for oxygen. ;p Copter.
That one looks like an exponential pyramid scheme. User #1 joins and has to get, say, 25 new members. As soon as member #26 joins (and has to find 25 new member for him/herself) member #1 get a free iPod. Now imagine that you are on layer 5 of this pyramid (that's almost 10,000,000 people waiting for an iPod ... or Plasma TV) BTW 25 was a conservative number I plucked out of the air. For an iPod the number is more likely to be 500 :(
