Frustrated with Lockups of Option Mode System: I got this information from my hubby so if it's wrong I'm sorry!!!:cheeky: 1. CPU-AMD 2500 (1.8 Ghz) 2. RAM-512 MB 3. Free Disk-24.1Gb 4. Total Disk-40 Gb 5. Graphic Card-Radon 9600 6. Driver version-He said it's the current one *shrugs* 7. Direct X Version-9.0c 8. Windows XP 9. Sims 2 CD version My problem is this: I have had two families with the same issue. There are already two tombstones on the property and when a third elder dies of old age, I am unable to save, exit to neighborhood or quit the game. I am able to build and buy and the other options come up in Options mode, such as game options (freewill etc.) Please help me!! Thanks! ***This is a repost because the suggestion you made did not work and I really need some answers to this***
This is a common occurence. Sometimes when the last person on the lot dies, it doesn't correctly recognize that everyone is dead. It's not related to your system specs, this is a bug inherent to the game itself. It seems to occur more frequently if you fast-forward during the death scene, or attempt to enter buy/build after the death has occurred, but before the Grim Reaper has left the lot. It is much more likely to occur if Grimmy watches the TV or uses the toilet before dying, as opposed to simply fading out.
Is there a patch or anything available or in the works? I'm glad to know someone else has had this problem. I was getting very frustrated!! Thank you for your reply. It has also happened when there are still other people alive on the lot, which is frustrating because I have to completely shutdown my computer (it won't even let me just ctr+alt+del to shut the game down) and lose all of that gameplay. Any solutions would be helpful.
There is no solution, besides "pray that it doesn't happen again". There are unsubstantiated claims that a patch is forthcoming, but there is no proof of this, nor is there any evidence that if a patch WERE to be forthcoming, it would actually fix this particular problem.
Maxis is working on a patch. (This is *not* an unsubstantiated rumor. It comes directly from Maxis.) We don't know when it will be available or whatall the patch will correct, but this is one of the bugs which has been discussed. For now, avoid situations where you have an end of life situation. (For example, go play another house for a while.)
Just because it's an official rumor doesn't mean it's not unsubstantiated: There is absolutely no proof that this is fact, and Maxis is known for its many lies and general refusal to prove any of its often vacuous claims. By definition, since there is no proof that an actual patch exists or is actually even being worked on, this claim remains unsubstantiated.
