    game crashes

Our game was working fine until we started playing it again (we hadn't played it for awhile) and now it goes through the beginning movie and just locks up and stutters what could be wrong?

It sounds like something may have been corrupted here. Are you receiving any error messages? Sometimes the game will give an error message but you can't see it. Press Alt-Tab and it might come up.

Another way is to try with a new user for test purposes. Under Control Panel, you have a User item. Use this to create a new user on your computer and then try to run TS2 with this user.

Alternately you might want to backup your game data and then uninstall and re-install.

Do you have any idea what might make it do stuff like this? What I really hate is when games are working fine one minute and just quit working the next.

A variety of things could have occured. Some possibilities include:

An update of DirectX (or corruption of this) when installing a new game.
An update of graphics drivers or system files from installing patches or new drivers.
A corrupt hard drive sector, possibly caused by power loss or incorrect shutdown.

The list can go on, thats why its quite difficult to say for sure what the problem may be. Have you tried the new user test, or the re-install?

No I haven't yet, would a hard drive defragment help or not?

Not really. A disk check might though, (Go to My Computer, right-click on your C drive, go to Properties, then Tools, then use the Check Disk for Errors utility from there.)

should i have it automtically fix any errors or attempt recovery of bad sectors?

Yes, but the bad sectors check takes a long time so be prepared.
