    Genetics.

I have a sim who is of the lightest skin tone, & her husband is black. They have a few babies. For the children that are the light colour, if they marry another light-skinned sim, is it possible for them to have a black baby? Like, do the genetics work like they would in real life?

It may very well be possible. I haven't had it happen enough though.

I think it depends on 2 things...1. Is the skin custom and 2. Is their partner also the child of light & dark skinned parents. In other words, what are the genetics of the other sim involved?

If the skin is a custom skin, it'll always be dominant so the kids will have that skin no matter what. If it's not, it'll come down to the genetics of their other parent.

At least that's the way I see it work in my game.

All I want to know if how my two very handsome parents gave birth to the ugliest girl in Pleasantview! She has a square head with a very deep double cleft in the very manly chin. Yikes.

    Cass,

So what if you have two custom skins? Which one is dominant, or is it a 50-50 shot?

(Meaning two custom skins that aren't modded to be genetically compatible?)

    Hi all
If you have a white and black couple. What would the offspring be?
    Black? White? or Tan?

Black. I've had it happen 2 generations in a row.

Tan + black = tan though. I haven't figured that one out.

it's because in their wisdom(?) maxis failed to include blending into the mix of things. There is one designer that has created skin colors that do blend. I need to bite the bullet and make them my default skins and see what happens.

I think the Maxis Default skins will blend. If you have a fair-skined parent and a Dark-skinned parent, sometimes the baby will be born with the medium or tan skintone. Custom Skintones won't blend.

Yeah, the default skins do blend. It's just custom skins that won't.

I've had a white mom and black dad and the baby girl ended up being white.
