Getting rid of vampires Is there a safe way to delete the vampires from the game and not have them come back? I keep hearing about autonomous bitting of the vampires (of bartenders, Mrs Crumbleton, other NPC's, etc.) and I really don't want my neighorhood to be affected. One of my sims who I haven't played in a while is at a relationship score of 100/0 with the count and 15/0 with the countess. This has happend all by itself as I haven't played her in a while. I haven't even sent her downtown. I see her when I play my other sims downtown. I really want to get rid of them before they do something. Also, I don't want to see them when I go downtown (which I usually do). Thanks.
The count/countess won't bite any of the NPCs until you allow one of your playable sims to be bit. Then they start bitting NPCs, such as townies, bartenders and such. I believe the guide said that they can only bite up to a certain percentage of the people however...not sure what that number is. So if you don't want a town with a vamp population, don't let them bite your playable sims.
Yeah I know that they are not "supposed" to bite anyone unless I allow them to bite a playable sim but from what I've been reading, other people have experienced the vamps autonoumously bitting people without them having a playable sim be bitten first. Also, one of my playable sims is establishing a relationship with the vamps when I'm not playing her. Her and the count are at the "friendship" level and she is growing in her relationship with the countess. Mind you all of this is taking place when I'm not even playing her. So if she can "interact" with them on her own, who is to say they won't bite her.
You could try inviting them over and locking them in a room all day with windows and no coffins. That should do the trick. Of course, then you might be stuck with vampire ghosts, but you could always move. Or, you could invite them to move in (good luck with that, they're cagey) and then have them drink Vamp-D. I've heard that deleting them can cause problems in the game. Not sure if it's true or not. The game might create more if you kill them off, but that seems safer than deleting them. I killed a maid once with no harm done, other than an annoying ghost. I have an elder in my game who also appears to be a vampire. Or is she a zombie? I tried calling her in the daytime because I was suspicious and I got the "ah, it burns!" message. Do zombies have to avoid daylight too? I've never played them, as they simply don't interest me. I do like the vamps, though.
I moved in one of the original vampires, after he bit one of my playable sims (which is what I wanted and I worked for it!). He was immediately replaced by another townie vampire, Count Eric. Count Eric is the one who started biting the townies. So far he has bitten 3 townies and one store clerk. It has been a while now since they were all bitten, so I think I am at my limit for townie vampires for now. There also is a Contessa, but I hardly ever see her and I've never seen her bite anyone. A couple of the townies were friends with my playable sims, and I have tried to influence them to drink the Vamp-D, but they won't do it. I put the Vamp-D on the floor right next to them, and influence them to drink it, but all they do is nod and stand there. I don't want to move them in to have them drink it because, well, I don't want them in my game like that. I have a weird compulsion to actually play with every available playable sim in my neighborhood, and I just wouldn't know what to do with all these former vampire townies. Also, zombies have no aversion to sunlight. I have a former maid zombie who wanders the neighborhood randomly, wearing her maid's outfit, dragging her leg, and moaning. When I play her house, she behaves just like the other normal sims there, except for dragging her leg around and moaning. It's funny also because she talks in a normal sim's voice, and stands up straight to talk to someone.
Not trying to hijack this thread but I think it fits. How do you recognize the Count and Contessa? I've got a guy in my downtown that looks like he could be a Count but he's just got a regular name like Bob Smith not like Count Bob. Since I don't want Vampires in my game I don't want to accidentally make friends with him and get bit. Ruth
Yes, I was wondering about that as well. Info please! The vampires aren't that active on my game. I'm going to play some more now actually. I haven't played for ages!
I tried to get rid of them by locking them up but that doesn't work. I created a mysterious sim named Buffy Slayer. She quickly became friends with the Contessa. I had her come over to the house and then I removed the doors. When she turned into a bat she wasn't able to fly out. Then I boxed her in by building a wall around her. She then just disappeared. She went back to her house as my sim was able to call her on the phone right after that. When my sim put out the Ven-D potion and tried to influence the Contessa to drink it, it didn't work. I don't want to make the Count/Contessa playable as that would just generate more. So far I have only seen 2 grand vamps in my game but I read there are 4. Even if you make them playable or delete them, the game will just generate more. Why did Maxis make it impossible to get rid of these vamps if people did not want them at all in their game? I’m at the point where I may use a hack I saw that causes them to not bite anyone, anywhere, anytime. I didn’t want to do this as I didn’t want to use the hacks in my game. Also, this doesn’t stop me from seeing them every time I go downtown. Ruthie, from what I could tell, the grand vamps (Maxis generated) have Count or Contessa at the beginning of their names. The contessa (at least the one I saw, there may be another one) has blond hair and wears a red dress with red-jewel crown on her head. The Count wears a black count-Dracula suit (I guess that is what you call it). They both walk around alot with their arm over their face so they're not hard to miss.
Well then I guess I just haven't seen them yet. I don't spend much time downtown either that or I don't frequent their haunts when I do go. Thanks, Ruthie
Why do you have a problem with seeing the Count and Countess? Do they ruin the game for you or something? I think Makin' Magic ruined the whole idea of TS1, because it just...changed it. Completely. Besides, I don't like seeing Marisa Bendett (what is wrong with these NPC's? Have they all fell flat on their faces when they were babies and completely squashed their noses into bulbous lumps?) walk around my sims' lots, but I deal with it.
Person123, I don't want to see them because 1-I disagree with what they "represent" and I don't want them in a game that I'm playing and 2-I don't want them in the background of my pics for my story when I take pictures at a Comm. lot. (this has happend). I also don't like seeing the gypsy lady. She shows up on my lots all the time and just stands there saying things to herself for long periods of time but at least I can really ignore her as she doen't enter into comm. lots and she isn't a threat of messing up the neighborhood.
Sorry if I came across sounding rude, I just wanted to know. I seem to be sounding rude a lot nowadays... Anyway, so it's a religious issue? I understand--many of my friends' parents don't let them go trick-or-treating or read Harry Potter because they're based on paganism. I sorta agree--they're turning TS2 into more of a fantasy game, with zombies and vampires and such. My dad likes me playing the game because it teaches me how to save money, LOL. If not, feel free to get annoyed and blow up at me. I tend to jump to conclusions.
Answering question on how to recognize the Vamps: They stalk around the Downtown lots, looking a sick sallow grey color, with red eyes. They throw an arm over their face as the skulk around, making "Blah, Blah" noises like old-time cartoony vampires. You can't miss them: they are annoying as the cow mascot. PlayLives: I don't have a solution for you, but maybe some help to at least make them less noticiable. Over at MTS2 there are downloads that change the vampires back to having normal skins and eye colors. You can also change their clothes using the testing cheat or merola's mind control mirror at Varioussimmers. They will still walk around and say "Blah", but they won't ruin your shots anymore when you are taking pictures.
That's ok, Person123. I wish my sims could wear garlic. I wouldn't mind the vamps so much then. I could create a Buffy sim who would carry a stake in her inventory and she would be just like the vamps, only going out at night, she would have to befriend them before she could slay them. Now that would be fun!
true, but she isn't supposed to have any friends, she is a loner and remains "under the radar" in the neighborhood.
Ah, a true slayer, then. My playable vamps are not nearly as annoying as the in-game ones. They turned out kind of cool (none of that medieval garb or silly arm in front of the face stuff). I like to have them pick fights with the in-game vamps ... it's not like they're going to get bit again.
