    Halloween objects

As I didn't see any thread yet about the new Halloween objects that Maxis released yesterday, I thought I'd mention it here.

So, Maxis released 3 Halloween objects for outside decorative use: a big black cat, a kettle with four ghosts and a pumpkin with a hat.

For the official name and details: see the Objects list in the Maxis Exchange.

Oh, the prices are really nice: only 53 Simoleons per item!

PS: I wonder if the kettle with the ghosts can be used to fulfill the "See a ghost" want, that would be interesting! I don't have any Sims with that want at the moment so can't try it out easily...

I checked the items earlier. I haven't decided if I want to download them yet. That would be great if the ghost object let them fulfill the "see a ghost" aspiration. I wondered if the black cat lawn ornament would get stolen like the gnomes.

I rather miss the "Eternal Pyre" object from TS1. It was a fire, that you could place in buy mode. Technically, it wasn't really eternal, but you could create a wall of fire surrounding your entire lot, and anyone trying to enter it would be incinerated. I wouldn't mind some electrified flooring, causing any Sim walking onto it to suffer possibly fatal electrocution when activated, either.

I doubt it because they would need a truck to take it with them, the cat occupies about 6 squares I believe (well, at least 4, it's large enough:) )

    Cool stuff

Just the perfect decorations for that Goth sim you have. I especially like the cat.

LOL! So the cat is huge, huh? Did anyone find out if the ghostie thing did anything useful? Is the jack-o-lantern just a lighted pumpkin? ( I DID download them but they aren't showing up in my game or in my files. I guess I'll try again.)

No, it's a lighted pumpkin with a hat, a face and a black box in the back :)
Actually, I was kinda hoping that there would also be some Halloweeny scary sounds coming out of it when people pass but I haven't heard anything until now. So it looks like just a lighted pumpkin. It even has the same options as the regular lighting (On/Off/Auto). But the light looks really nice though, warm light...

Hmm, how did you download them (site or in-game)? I downloaded them in-game as they were not available yet through the site and that worked perfectly.
If you downloaded them from the site you need to put them in the Sims2 Downloads folder in your "My Documents" folder and if they get a customized icon (which means there's a program installed that recognizes this file type) you need to double-click them to import them into TS2. This should be done when TS2 is NOT running. Hope that helps you out...

I've taken a closer look at the size now: cat=6 squares, kettle and pumpkin: 9 squares. So they're not the smallest decoration items available, you'll have to choose between that swimming pool or Halloween deco if you don't have a large garden ;)

Started playing The Lone Gunmen, uh, the Curious family yesterday, and Vidcund (the blonde one) wanted to "See a ghost". So I got myself a kettle full of ghosts and guess what, Viewing at the kettle didn't fulfill the want :( Anyway, that's was to be expected right, only 53 Simoleons to fulfill "See a ghost", would have been too easy. Who knows, maybe they made it time-aware so that it only works on Halloween, ahum, guess not but it's a possibility :)

I've downloaded the halloween items 5 different times. It says to double click on the item in my downloads. I go to My Documents and the EA Sims2 file and open every frigging file and no halloween items. I downloaded the topiaries and that computer and had no problem. I've downloaded 2 different houses 3 or 4 times..no house files. I've downloaded some clothes and makeup with no problem. I can't tell you how frustrated I am at this point. Why would it work sometimes and not others? (And thank you for describing the halloween items for me..it may be the closest I get to them! lol)

Very strange, that it works for some objects and doesn't for others...

Maybe one thing to try out: download one of the Halloween objects through the game interface. That's the Custom Content Browser in the Neighbourhood view (the button looks like an asterisk). Hope that helps...
