Heeeeeeeeelp! i know that i have probably posted this in the wrong section of the forum but i need help... i have downloaded objects (art, tv's etc) for my sims game (the original sims) how the hell do i get them into my game???????? (pls help)
Calm Down First of all, there are literally hundreds of Sims 1 sites out there. And there are many tutorials and information on all download sites on exactly how to place your downloaded files. Take a minute and visit some of them, you'll find the instructions you need. Everyone here is just a little to busy and distracted with TS2 to explain this for you. Just do a little surfing and reading, I promise you'll find it out there.
**blushes** sorry but im a little errrr... lets call it blonde, could you direct me to one of these sites pls
You're kidding, right? I'm going to use the "tough love" approach here and suggest you use a search engine such as Yahoo or Google and type in "THE SIMS" and see what pops up. You found THIS site, didn't you?
can u not just use the "nice love" technique and help me! i only need a little step by step edit :: its ok i found a way >.<
And for anyone else having this problem, most of the sites that let you download Sims 1 stuff have instructions either in the .zip file that you downloaded, or instructions somewhere on their site for where to place your downloads.
Helpful advice with Sims 1, with downloadable objects. Don't feel bad... Remember - that there is a lot of subfile folders for Sims 1, with all those booster packs. (( personally, I know what it's like to see something that would look good in the actual gameplay... and then lose the object.)) Since you have a P.C. --- this should be easier, instead of a Macintosh. The file tree system is different than that with the P.C. --- Remember that once you select the "colorful" manilla folder with the sims logo on your desktop, there will be a series of manilla folders. --- select the one that says GAME DATA to it, and click THAT PARTICULAR FOLDER. Another series of manilla envelopes are there. seach for SKINS and the SKINS BUY folders. (( If you have Hot Date, Expansion Pack.)) Macintosh users .... don't SCREW AROUND with the SKINS BUY, or it will result with the computer crashing... no matter if you have future booster packs, such as Makin Magic, it still crashes. Remember to upload SKINS sparingly --- this would cause the game to run slower. (( animation get's jumpy - and there's a delayed response between getting a sim to do a certain action of gameplay, such as in Superstar and Makin' Magic.)) If you just want to load up Wallpaper & Floors --- select GAME DATA again, and hunt down the folder for Floor, and put those files in there, and look for Walls and put those .iff files in there. (( Don't mix or confuse the Walls and Floor .iff files - or it just wont show up on the Build and Buy panel at all. )) Downloadable Objects, such as Chairs, Lamps, Plants ---- For the Macintosh, you just simply shove them in the download manila folder. Since you have a P.C. --- read the text document that came with the game. ... again, I do apollogise for the hours of fustration - you may of endured with trying to get the game to look a bit more to your liking. Still, keep in mind that this experience will get you interested in learning how to do basic computer programming. Who knows, maybe you could come back - and say that you've developed a neat game idea, which I'm doing on my own terms. I Love how the Sims helps folks like myself who lack imagination to come up with stories and ideas to do comic book artwork during those "Creative Blocks" --- So I think if there's enough folks who Fancy the Sims 1 - you might expect folks to continue putting out CD roms of different kinds of furniture for gameplay. I for myself - feel that if your idea is worth the "trouble" to test for doing a gameplay, by all means persue it and see if this would be something that would be enjoyable for folks to try out. ---- again, don't feel bad about posting ---- The Sims were designed for "the rest of us" who just wanted something we would be happy to give to your family members, or especially your children if you decide that the game makes for a nice collector's item.
