Help Exporting My Sims and Houses

Anyone know which files/folders and where they are I have to copy to export my various Sims and their houses to another computer?

I'm trying to move my already established Sims in their current house from my G5 to my Powerbook so I can continue their lives while on the road.

    Thanks In advance.

Hi McG. I'm not familiar with the Mac OS but take note that you need to transplant whole neighborhoods rather than just sims or families of sims (with or without houses). This is because of memory and relationship issues. eg if you have a sim who has met Goopy and you transplant him to another neighborhood and he meets the "new" Goopy in the new hood ... guess what? You sim will now "know" TWO Goopys, one of whom can never be contacted because he stayed behind in the original neighborhood.

The Neighborhood folders should be in your Documents folder as per:

    Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Neighborhoods\

If you have a network cable then it should be relatively quick to just copy the folders straight across back and forth as required ... although I would advise keeping a separate back-up archive (and keep it up to date) if you plan to play back and forth between desktop and notebook machines cos all manner of the things that are apt to go wrong are more likely to go wrong if you ain't got a back up

It's true that you'd have to move the entire neighborhood over. Or, alternatively, you could just export the individual families to the TS2 website, or as a file on your desktop. Then you could move them over to the laptop, and use the Package Installer to put them into your game.

NOOOO! If you move a family they will take with them memories of people who don't come with them. Every townie and NPC they know will will be duplicated in their relationships panel: one from the neighborhood they were "made" in and one from the neighborhood they are moved to.

If you move two brothers who are in in different households then neither will "know" the other in the new hood until they meet again. Though will each retain memories of each other from their original neighborhood.

If you think this is confusing imagine how it feels trying to play the game! Imagine too how quickly your game will collapse under the strain of trying to handle so many memories and sims.

NEVER transplant families from one neighborhood to another.

ESPECIALLY NEVER transplant extended families (mulitple related households) from one hood to another.
