HELP!!I deleted my mailbox!! I was, for the first time, playing around with the testingcheatsenabled cheat, and i accidentqally clicked on my mailbox and pushed 'force error'. and then it gave me 3 options, and i didnt know what it meant, so i just put 'delete' and POOF! my mailbox disappeared!!! I accidentally deleted my mailbox!! what can I do to get it back?
Oh dear...this is why we suggest using the boolprop testing cheat with extreme caution...anyway, several options. 1. Exit without saving. 2. If you already saved, see this thread and see if it would help you. 3. Finally the last option is to move your family out into another house and delete the lot without the mailbox.
I don't mess around much with cheats, but if I were you I would just live there for a while and see what happens. (Does the mailman still come by? Do dates still try to leave messages? Does the repo man come since you can't pay your bills?) But yeah, I would just move out and delete the mailboxless lot if you find out it does any harm.
Actually that's not quite true Kat. I think that the repo man will still come because you haven't paid your bills. Also Lynet posted that she once deleted a mailbox and then it created a huge hole in her neighborhood...so try not to do it. Oh and I merged your threads; please use the edit button if at all possible.
A fix for lost mailboxes. :hyper::hyper::hyper:I just happened onto a fix for that very problem done by Quaxi. Look here under mods and hacks: http://daydream.etowns.net/ "Accidentally delete your mailbox or trash can? Have no fear, replace them with buyables, plus bonus pizza! You will find the SEDD Lot Setup "collection" under the collections folder (highlighted in bright green on the left bottom of the picture above.) To use this in PETS go into BUILD MODE first and THEN Collections." However, do be very careful in the future as keeping the original is better than having to replace. Boolprop and others can cause problems. The best rule of thumb is "never force error". Another way to prevent problems like that is to do a back up of your game before you do anything like building, adding a new EP/SP, adding new custom content, or any other change. That way you aren't going to lose as much so it's only necessary to backtrack, as opposed to the dreaded "start over from scratch"
I havent used the mailbox cheat myself so i have a quick question, what exactly does the cheat "force error" do to your game? Seeing that on my mailbox sounds to me as a no-clicky, try to avoid no-no. I mean, what good could come out of "Force Error" Kinda sounds like "crash computer" in other words.
It's kind of like a reset button. I use it on my flamingos when they get stuck thinking that someone is still using them. Or other objects like that. If you hit the force error, then choose reset that is just fine...just refreshes the object. Cancel cancels the error (assuming you just forced it yourself) and delete will delete the object; which is what happened in this case.
I tried putting a new mailbox back along the edge of that hole in the ground of my neighborhood. Didn't help me. *sigh* I deleted that neighborhood entirely. Fortunately, it wasn't an important one, and I binned all the houses I'd built there first. Wonder why I got a hole in the neighborhood? Maybe it's because I deleted the trashcan, too. I never use that boolproptestingcheatsenabled thingy, anyway, because I'm accident prone.
