    Help Please Very Frustrated

ok, I just put in a new Graphics card Radeon9550 . I have run the Directx check and have the newest version, everything comes back good.

When I load up Sims 2 . The people, objects , actually every thing has like a starburst effect while trying to play. Hence I have been unable to play. WHat is Wrong. Please help me. I have tried almost everything, with the help of some friends now I am turning to those who might actually know.

    PS Happy Holidays to everyone

Loren. I don't have any immediate answers. But stayed tuned. I'm sure others will have some helpful advice. Kat?

Do you have any custom content?

I read (and I wish I could remember where - I think it was a thread over at MATY) that these "starbursts" are caused by high polygon count items (or high vertices) in custom objects.

Also, several people have reported that their game works better with older versions of drivers for their video cards. Try installing one of the older drivers for you card and see if that helps. I know that advice is contrary to what Maxis recommends, but it seems to help - especially with the nVidia cards.

You mentioned that you have put in the DirectX, but you didn't say if you had the most recent drivers from ATI for that card. It sounds like you are having a graphics problem. (http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html)

I had this happen once to one of my lots. But it was only one lot and was related to a custom meshed object. It improved as soon as I removed that object.
