"help with birthday?" Hi, I did some reconstruction on the house & when I played the game, I put my two teenagers to sleep but they keep waking up even though they are tired & on my female teen there is always a "help with birthday" on my baby & she keeps carrying the baby & putting the baby on the floor. What is happening????
She's trying to help the baby age transition to a toddler. The problem is, if she has to take the baby out of the crib first, the "help with birthday" action will time out and she'll put the baby on the floor. If you leave the baby on the floor, on the strike of the next hour the teen will queue the "help with birthday" action again and should complete it successfully. Also make sure you have installed the patch, as it fixed some other timeout issues with baby age transitions.
One way I found to deal with this is to quickly hit pause. Open the cheat box and type moveobjects on then pick up the baby abd place it on the floor ... the teen should pick the baby up and the transition will occur. You could also buy a birthday cake and get the teen to Bring Baby To Cake (click on the cake for this option) ... though this will result in the whole house waking to blow party bugles and wave rattles and generally waste a load of time ...
Same thing happened to me but the baby was wide awake!! I just left her alone and figured that somebody would grow her up. Eventually they did but it was quite annoying.
I had a strange experience with a birthday cake last night. I had a birthday party for a baby. Everyone gathered, I had the father bring the baby to the cake, and they blew out the candles. Then, nothing. I kept waiting, party broke up. I waited until midnight, still nothing. Finally deleted the cake. The candles were still burning in midair! Bought a new cake and tried again, and this time the parents couldn't bring the baby to the cake. Finally went to the neighborhood screen, then came back, and tried again with a new cake. The Trasnition went fine.
Yeah I had that happen too. I think that it's caused by a sim passing by and adding his "watch birthday" decision to the queue and then in typical sim fashion he gets bored waiting in the corner of the lot and he wanders off ... leaving whoever is holding the baby waiting forever for a nonexistent guest to arrive before tossing baby into the air. Methinks we need the Flying Fish Doctor to investigate ...
