Help with download Hi guys. I just got a wireless internet connection, so I wanted to try it out and downloaded a lot of stuff for the Sims2. I found some furniture and stuff and it worked really well. Then later on, I wanted to add clothes and skins and went to the same site as before. I saved the downloads the same place and did everything as I should. But now the new downloads arent there! The icon looks like a normal folder just with a zipper through it. When I doubleclick on it, a new icon appears; the file itself. It looks like the official Sims2 icon. I doubleclick on it and it says I have to doubleclick on it to install it. I just did! Didnt I? PLease help me, I know it sounds messy and confusing but please help!
Right click the folder with the zip on it and there should be an option unzip or extract. Then a normal folder will appear and the download should be in it.
thanks for the speedy reply. I tried to right-click on the folder, then choose unzip. But I have 3 options: Zip compressed folders, Internet Explorer or the sims 2 body shop installer. If I use the ladder, it simply tells me to doubleclick on the user defined something to install it. Do I have to choose option 3 and do it on every single one?
Don't right click on the folder with the zipper. Double click it. If you are running Windows XP, it will open the folder with the zipper. (If you are running an older operating system you'll need to go get WinZip or one of the other unzipper files like PowerZip.) Once you've opened the zipped folder, it will let you see the more familiar icon for either package or Sims2Pack. PS. I brought this to the more appropriate section and closed the extra identical post, since this one had replies in it.
Ok I understand, and sorry for the double posting. I doubleclicked on the zipperfolder and all it told is to please doubleclick on the userdefined package to install. Im clueless, guys.
*yawn* what was I thinking? That package file just needs to be moved to the downloads folder. My fault! Anyway it's 4:30AM over here, I need to get some sleep.
Once the file is unzipped, it needs to be treated the way you normally would. Package files need to be hand (or clean installer) placed in the correct My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/ file. To install Sims2Packs, those you double click to install. But your computer wouldn't know the difference between a package file and a Sims2pack, so it would tell you to open it (no matter which type you have.)
I did put them in the right folder. My real problem is, that only some of the downloads works, even though its from the same site and the same kind. I unzip them, then paste them back into the downloads folder in EAgames. that works, but only sometimes. Can any of you give me some cool sites for clothes? I found Lindas Sims2 site and it rocks.
remember a custom object, hairstyle, skin etc. will not show if you do not have the mesh (the underlying structure). so you must make sure you download that as well. also if the object etc was made with that color program thingy (sorry I'm having a senior moment and can't remember the name of it) you have to have that too or your recolor new mesh or whatever won't show up either.
The Colour Enable Package (which you can get on MTS2 or the SimPE site). If you don't have the EP for the object, hairstyle or clothing article, you won't see it either. As for fun download sites, there's a rather long thread on this site which has had a lot of fun entries. Kristalrose and I seem to end up doing a *lot* of downloading after someone posts a new addition!
I didnt think about the mesh. I dont know what it is, but everybody seems to. So, I will go and download it. Thx
I downloaded... SimsPE. Is that what I need too make sure that everything I download shows up? I'm sitting with the program here right now, and to me it looks like a toolset for making your own things. Can someone PLEASE give me the exact link to this mysterious "CEP" because I didn't find MTS2-site..:(
The CEP comes with SimPE and is installed at the same time as the rest of the kit, if it exists it will show up in your Downloads folder. It should have the full file name: drive:\\path ~ \My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads\_EnableColorOptionsGMND.package Note the underscore character is the first character in the filename
Ok, thanks Mirelly. Your'e very nice and smart for being a village idiot But I got so impatient that I, when I found a direct link in another thread, downloaded it and then installed it.. Well. This SimsPE, whatever it is, seems to be working anyway. But SimsBodyShop doesn't work anymore , I get an errormessage each time I try to start it. That it has crashed and doesn't respond. Right after I've clicked the icon. Will it help if I uninstall Bodyshop and reinstalls it you think?
