how difficult will it be to "create"???

I'm already picturing my creature, my perfect "yokin" as somebody may have heard. :spin: .

But I have trouble drawing my creature down on paper! :(

And now I just found that thougght that what if ,I mean,,, with all those details,, It'll be hard to create them as well??????????? :(
What if I can't create my Yokin, because I don't know how to "put all the parts" together?!?!?

If youv'e watched GDC video, it has shown that you have alot of built in tools that will let you design you creatures the way you want to...it is almost unlimited...so...yeah, i think you can create you "perfect" creature with a bit of messing with the tools....

Thank you, I hope you are right...

I have watched the video, and I think it looks a bit complicated, with all the parts, and that "stretching" and all that... But again I hope you are right :spin:

In my opinion, it won't get compliacted if your character isn't meant to be complicated, there will be certain face, body parts, body, and color "channels" (Group of pre-made stuff) that can be used and modified a little bit by you so you get the wanted result....but if you want to be SO precise, you can go on and make it this way....it'll just take more time, how much time? depends how much your'e willing to spend when designing a creature..

    Hope that helped

I think thats the brilliant thing about the creator, is that its so easily used. On the video he edited his creature by simply clicking and dragging to change the body and rolling the mouse wheel to make things bigger or smaller. And adding legs and arms etc. he just chose which one he wanted, clicked it on the body, the computer made the skin work and he just dragged the shape a bit to make it better, added some feet and he was done. So from what I've read and seen I think its going to be quick and easy, will said that the tools are simple but powerful.

    hmm,,, YAH..

I guess I just had some minutes to think about spore, and started to panic about such a small thing..

I mean it would be a bit sad if I couldn't create my "dream monster" :laughing2:

Plus, the game might not render its movement the same way the creator imagined their creature to move.

...I wonder if you can make creatures that roll?

    I bet you can :laughing2:

I mean, in the GDC video, he shows that no matter what your creature will always/or at least ALMOST always, the creature will be able to move, if you make it possible for it

I can already picture my Cerecorn in the editor...He IS original, but I've had him for a looooong time, and I always wished I could play as him...THANK YOU FOR SPORE.

  10. Do you have to have legs? What if I wanted to create a snake or wormlike creature, would that be possible?

Yes, you do not need to have legs on your creature, because in the video Will pulled the fins off of his creature and he could have exited the editor when it had no legs or fins, he just didn't do so.

I wonder if you can put wings on your creature, but just make them ornamental? :shy: That's the way I planned them on my Cerecorn, anyway.

You could probably just make them too small to actually allow the creature to fly.

Hey, just out of pure curiousity, do you think it would be possible to create a creature that will have the abilities to swim, walk on land, climb trees, fly, and maybe even more? Or will I have to find this out on my own once I get the game? :D

Oh and also, will there be an option to make a creature waterproof, fireproof, and more? Or will it resist most things/be destroyed by certain things automatically? Or what? :shy: Thanks for reading... Please reply...

That's what incredibly dense armor is for, m'boy! Once you reach the top you won't need fancy heat resistant skin, you'll be able to build it.

Considering how incredibly deep the editor is I wouldn't doubt it, though.

Okay, thanks K.Kraden... Also, isn't it that you can only add really advanced stuff to your evolving species if you have enough points? Would this mean that if creatures can actually have fancy heat resistant skin, you would need lots of points for that -- unless it would be a basic or medium part of your creature, of course? Or is it that, when evolving your creature, you the creator can add anything at all that you want, any type of brain, any type of techno-laser-gadget arms or heat vision or whatever...

Er... Nevermind... I don't know what I am asking anymore. Sorry for piling you with questions... I am just so very interested in this new Spore game... :D

While robots are confirmed, we don't yet know if you can add cybernetic parts to a creature. Also, once you get into the tribal and city stages (where you would be learning how to put together laser death rays), the evolution of your race is already complete so no, you will not be able to put guns on your creatures during evolution stages. HOWEVER, once you get past the UFO and interstellar stage, and enter the macro stage (the largest and last stage in the game), you unlock all the abilities of all the previous stages. You will be able to go back and genetically alter your race, and maybe add cybernetics or weaponry to them. However, again, this hasn't really been 100% confirmed, though I think it's pretty likely.

Hey, cool, thank you K! I think that answered what I was asking! Though, seriously, I completely forget what I was trying to ask anyway, but your information is so helpful. Thanks again.

Keep in mind, however, at the point indicated in that image, the creature still has a tail fin (and thus could swim like an eel). However, considering the way Maxis works, I'm pretty sure they'll add the ability to build creatures without all the parts (i.e. no limbs at all), although I'm not sure how they would then handle parts in which grasping is necessary (i.e. the picking up of spears).

One thing that can be said about this computer-generated animation scheme, at least (excluding the eating/mating scenes), the creatures don't seem to have any clipping problems (clipping meaning that a part of their body seems to sink into or go through another solid object, like how one seems to go through another in the mating scene).

Actually, cere, if you watch closely those clipping problems during mating and eating are very brief, and only after an impact, IE, they 'squish together' a couple of inches then go back apart in the span of about a second. We must remember that these creatures are creatures, and as such are not made of solid diamond. I think this 'clipping' looks more realistic, because it looks like their bodies are pressing together in the mating part, and also like the little hoppy dude is really getting stabbed during the fighting. In this case I think the 'clipping' is a good thing.
