How do I get rid of moths?

I hate mothballs. I have a very sensitive nose (if I were a superhero that would probably be my superpower, LOL). But we've got an infestation of clothing-eating moths!

Does anyone have an old family remedy for this? Does some sort of plant work? Can I buy a spray?

My husband suggested I put a chameleon in the closet.

As you can guess, he's no help.

So I'm asking you all. HELP! I can't afford to keep buying new clothes. I don't have that many as it is ...

If you have any tips, please share!

Get a carnivorous plant! Yeah, I'm no help either. Then again, I don't think they eat moths...

Oh man! You've got 'em too! It must be something going around in our part of town! If anyone has any tips, I too would be more than grateful!

I'm having a massive infestation in my house as well. I haven't figured out a good way of eliminating em except nuking each one I see to prevent them from woo-hooing.

All of you, get those fragrant cedar blocks they make to hang in your closets and hope chests. we lined our closet with cedar paneling and I haven't see any moths in there at all.

and if you want to keep white keepsake babyclothes white, wrap them in blue tissue paper. its suppose to keep them from yellowing.

    A few fatuous suggestions:

    1) Stick to synthetics
    2) Wait for the fire ants to arrive ... apparently they eat anything
    3) Become a nudist
    4) Leave an iPod repeatedly playing Burl Ives singing "The Ugly Bug Ball" in your closet ... if that doesn't drive them away, nothing will

Take your clothes out of the wardrobe, shake em off outside and shut the door, take some petrol, and a match.

    Voila!

I had moths once. I think they first arrived in a kitty bed I bought for one of the cats. (Wondered why the cats, who at first had loved it, started to avoid it. :yuck: ) I threw out the kitty bed but by then those sneaky moths had discovered a wool throw rug in the bedroom and were fruitful and multiplied.

    I threw out the rug.

Then I moved into a new house and now I don't have any. Moths, that is. Moving is a rather drastic and expensive solution, however.

Yeah, I won't be doing that.

I'm going to try cedar and maybe ask at the co-op to see if there's some kind of candle or incense I can use.
